Recommended Posts

Sorry, but I was literally asked by someone to make this thread for predictions only. I apologize if the argument spilled over here. Have a great Holiday weekend!

No need to be sorry. It’s entertaining. Have a good weekend as well

I like Steveson winning. Intermat has him 5th in first rankings. Go Gophers. Dhesi isn't even ranked on Intermat. Will he be wrestling this season?

Here is a little challenge for you:  Pick Finalists for all 10 weights.  Pick the top 4 teams and margin of victory.  We can revisit it later and maybe make a 2nd one after Conferences.  Let's see how well we can project and then how well we paid attention at the end.

Here is mine:(We can come back and revise these once we know for sure  if and what weight guys like Fix, Steveson, Dhesi, etc. are going)

125:  Lee over Fix

133:  Gross over Micic

141:  Yianni over McKenna

149:  Ashnault over Lugo

157:  Nolf over Hidlay

165:  Joseph over Wick

174:  Valencia over Amine(I did this one just for you!)

184:  Martin over Parker

197:  Nickal over Moore

285:  Dhesi over Stoll

1. PSU by 12

2. Iowa

3. OkState

4. tOSU

Adjusted for what redshirt/weight changes we know

125:  Lee over Rivera

133:  Gross over Suriano

141:  same

149: Ashnault over Jordan

157: same

165: same

174: same

184: same

197: same

285: Steveson over Stoll(unless Dhesi comes back 2nd semester, then I would have Dhesi over Steveson)

Nolf is good, but they only let him dominate one weight class per NCAA's.

As an Ohio State fan it’s hard for me to not include Kollin Moore in the finals against Nickal.

Until I see different however, I think the cut down from 97KG back down to 197 will not be easy for Kollin, and he will drop a few matches he should win in the process due to his cardio .....and this will land him on the same side as Nickal come NCAA seeding.

I think he drops a semifinal match to Nickal and takes 3rd against whoever.

Ok MSU. This is for you.

Lee over Piccininni

Suriano over Gross

Yianni over Eirman

Jordan over Ashnault

Nolf over Hidlay

Cenzo over Marrinelli

Hall over Zahid

Shak over Martin

Bo over Moore

Cassar over Gable

PSU wins by a landslide

tOSU 2nd

Iowa 3rd

OSU 4th

Now I know PSU won’t have 6 champs but I do predict all of these guys in the finals and I will not pick over my boys. I did that once with Cenzo his freshman year and I won’t do it again. Obviously the Hall pick is pure homerism as I feel Zahid a step ahead but I’ll go with Hall. I do believe Cassar is the real deal and ready to take HwT by storm. Stoll don’t scare me as Nevills beat him twice when healthy and you saw what Cassar did to Nevills. Shak over Martin? Again, Martin is the clear favorite at this point, but I’m going with Shak, he’s a dangerous man. I believe Flo has him ranked 5th and he’ll eat up Parker, Zavatsky and Venz who are all ranked ahead of him at this point.

Is it too late to join? And yes, I very much understand that the title of the post is "Preseason" but I was busy $hitposting away on Deadspin, so please accept my most humble of apologies :)

125 Lee over Fausz

133 Suriano over Fix

141 McKenna over Lee

149 O'Connor over Ashnault

157 Nolf over Berger

165 Marinelli over Chance [#1 seed] (FIGHT ME IT'S HAPPENING WHATEVER WE ALL CRAP ON JOSEPH EVERY YEAR EVEN THOUGH HE HAS TWICE BEAT THE GUY WHO IS #2 ON THE WORLD TEAM LADDER WHO IS HE ANYWAYS RIGHT)

165.1 probably the freshman none of us expect that destroys the world, and will also win next year

174 Hall over Zahid

184 Martin over Shak in the highest scoring match of all time, or the shortest match of all time

197 Nickal over Moore

285 Steveson over Cassar

For those of you saying Martin vs Rasheed...
I'd be freaking out prior to that one, worrying that Martin will again get pinned in some crazy way after being up 6-2.
It would be interesting that all of Martin's finals would be against a PSU guy

Somebody’s getting pinned in that match. Mark it down now

Rasheed is too 1-dimensional to go with Martin.  He is otherworld deadly with the cradle, but I just don't see him able to use that against Martin.  I would truly be surprised if he keeps it close with Martin.  Don't forget, Martin dominated 184, except for Nickal.  Rasheed is NO Nickal.......

So, let's see how the brackets have adjusted these possibilities.

125:  Still possible and I am sticking with it.

133:  No Gross due to injury.  For sake of consistency in this particular exercise, I will just bump Suriano up and say Suriano over Fix.

141:  Possible and Likely.  Yianni over McKenna was the pick.

149:  Possible and Likely.  Ashnault over Jordan was the pick.

157:  Possible.  Deakin needs to wrestle much better than he has to get there.  Nolf over Deakin was the pick.

165:  Possible.  Marinelli' draw is brutal and Marsteller could benefit from it.  Joseph over Marsteller was the pick.

174:  Possible.  This obviously calls for a big upset.  But, Amine wasn't too far behind at B1G's.  Valencia over Amine was the pick

184:  Parker got screwed at B1G seeding and it carried over to NCAA's.  One dumb mistake against Venz cost him, while Rasheed wrestled 1 guy all season to get his seed.  The bottom half of this bracket is hot garbage.  But, I will insert ZZ as the finalist, losing to Martin, out of sheer contempt.  Martin over Parker was the pick.

197:  Possible and likely.  Nickal over Moore was the pick.

285:  Seeding at this weight made very little sense.  Parris at the 5 getting full credit for his win over Dhesi(6 seed) but they ignore his 37 losses to Jennings(12 seed).  Anyway, I will say the winner of Dhesi/Steveson wins NCAA's.  However, the brackets do give him a crazy chance at my very original Steveson over Stoll prediction.  Sadly, I don't think he is nearly in the shape necessary to pull that off.  So, I say Dhesi over White to stay consistent with the brackets based on my predictions.
