Team USA Budapest Betting Odds

Recommended Posts

BetDSI recently released odds for each Team USA rep to either (a) win or (b) medal.  Flo also did short post on this recently as well.  Here are the odds:

Odds below - [to win] (to medal)

57kg Gilman:  [+550] (+135)

61kg Garrett:  [N/A] (+1000)

65kg Stieber:  [+1200] (+230)

70kg Green:  [+500] (+125)

74kg Burroughs:  [+110] (-260)

79kg Dake:  [+140] (-275)

86kg Taylor:  [+115] (-325)

92kg Cox:  [+300] (-125)

97kg Snyder:  [-115] (-275)

125kg Gwiazdowski:  [+2000] (+325)

If you're not a gambler... these are money line odds.  For positive odds, for each $100 you bet, you win that amount.  E.g. if you bet $100 on James green to win gold, and he does, you win $500, and keep the $100 you wagered, so in total you now have $600.  For negative odds, you have have to bet that amount to win $100.  E.g. you bet $260 that Burroughs will medal, and he does, you win $100, for a total take of $360.

I think they did a pretty nice job overall with the lines.  I love Gwiz +325 to medal... I think he's got at least a 40% chance to do it.  Taylor at +115 in his first world championship ever is tough to take... assume Yazdani will have a similar line to Snyder if/when odds for other nations are released.

Do they refresh the odds once the brackets are drawn? I assume they do if they're taking wagers. It seems that one's chances of winning or medaling is often so dependent on one's draw.

They should, but oftentimes for more niche sports that aren't going to have a ton of action, they're just using automation to keep a balanced book so you might be able to get in at a really nice level if you're paying close attention.

I’m liking the Garrett to place odds. That guy is a freak who could absolutely catch lightning in a bottle esp with the right draw. Can I bet on these at the new Atlantic City sports books?

Yeah, why are there no gold medal odds for Garrett? Wonder what those odds are?

.....little digression, but would love to hear wrestlingnerd comment on these odds, and even more of a digression, what ever happened to armspin? Another great poster.

Too much of a long shot.  Probably should be somewhere over +5000.  Guessing they don't feel like laying those long of odds for such a small betting event.

Sorry. I meant Garrett not Stieber. And I meant Stieber not Steiner. Dang autocorrect.

Most sites have like a $1 minimum.

But when people explain the odds they are all percents so its just easier to illustrate using 100 as the standard bet.

I would assume the Min is $1 though and since it is such a small market the max is likely 250-500 (guessing) I have a DSI account, I will look in a bit

for world/international events in the past the online books i saw (sportsbook and betdsi) took them down before draws.

in other words - i don't think you can bet after draws are posted.

I believe you are correct.
