Katie 723 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Draws will be revealed today (Friday) at 10 AM ET. USA's Nick Gwiz is listed as a 1 seed. Georgia's Petriashvili is a 4 seed, and Turkey's Akgul is not seeded.
drgibbons 4 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Gwiz is opposite both Akgul and Petriashvili. If he can perform like he has been this year he can at least make the finals and give us a chance at gold there. 1 PSUMike reacted to this
jmachinder 68 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Russia and Ukraine on the bottom half of the bracket as well. Wow.
coachjeff 1 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Great, great draw for Gwiz! No reason he should not make the finals, which could be huge for us! Highely unlikely Russia backs into 5th place points at this weight again like they did last year either.
Katie 723 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Gwiz has a nice draw.
Housebuye 2,073 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Amazing draw! This helps given that at 74 and especially at 86 we got pretty terrible draws Gwiz in the finals is realistic!
Seena 5 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 I can't find the brackets. I'd appreciate if someone can guide me where to find it? Thanks.
MatJunkie 6 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 (edited) @PackWrestle just tweeted that Gwiz' first match is a rematch of his bronze bout from last year. Absolutely electric first round, at multiple weights, this year! Edited October 19, 2018 by MatJunkie

As for the no reason he should not make the finals part...no reason except the fact that it's the World Championships and pretty much anything can happen. There's a heck of a lot that goes into what a guy does this tournament and a little bit of luck is absolutely part of it. 1 steamboat_charlie v2 reacted to this

krazzy 13 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Bottom half of 125 bracket is brutal! Geno, Akgul, Ligeti, Magomedov a Russian and an Iranian.
Gantry 1,605 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Gwiz probably get Dhesi in round 2, did they ever meet in college?

No "easy" draw at worlds, all the guys he has to go thru to make the finals are tough, particularly his first match being a rematch of bronze bout last year. That said, not having Akgul, Petriashvilli or even the Ukrainian on his side I consider as good as it gets.
Katie 723 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 As other have noted, Gwiz's R16 match is a rematch of last year's bronze medal match. It's a good reason to get up and watch wrestling tomorrow morning.
de4856 359 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Well great draw for the Gwiz, hopefully he can come out firing on all cylinders, and stay on the gas. I think he has a more than excellent chance to get in the finals.
treep2000 901 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Agreed in that Gwiz has the best possible draw... a complete opposite situation than DT. If Gwiz doesn't make the finals, beating Dhesi in the process, I will be SHOCKED. Good luck Gwiz... give 'em 'ell!
Eagle26 428 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Can’t ask for a better draw than that! He has a great shot to make the finals which will really help the team race. Plus there’s a very good chance Russia doesn’t even qualify for the repechage!
NJDan 569 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Isn't his first round match pretty tough? Zolboo Natsatgsuren was 5th in 2017 World Championships!
PRyan2012 343 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 Guys this draw is even better than Varner's 2012 draw! I am sure everyone is picking an Akgul/Gwiz final here but don't sleep on a huge 305 pound Hadi from Iran!
Idaho 752 Report post Posted October 19, 2018 ...Dhesi defeated Gwiz 3-0 in the finals of a Canadian tournament last year.
