JohnnyThompsonnum1 102 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Oh brain fart. I was thinking of battles that he had with Kriemier of Air Force and forgot that they aren't in the same conference anymore.
juicebox215 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 How are the wildcards determined between wrestlers who meet the same amount of criteria? Do head-to-head match-ups and common opponents come into play? Are any of the 5 criteria weighed more heavily than the others? Is win percentage calculated before or after the conference tournaments? Like at 141 for instance -- Penessi (WVU) - 3 or 4/5 criteria. #13 coaches poll, #11 rpi, wins over 4 other qualifiers, had 70% win percentage before Big 12's. Hunt (NC St.) - 4/5 criteria. #31 coaches poll, #27 rpi, 1 place away at conference, wins over other qualifiers. Jackson (Mich) - 2-4/5 criteria. #25 coaches poll. Had 70% win percentage before conference. Win over a qualifier. A win today in 7th/8th match would give him 1 place away at conference. Kiley (Neb) - #22 coaches poll, #33 rpi, wins over 4 other qualifiers. Head-to-Head wins over Jackson and Hucke. Fiekert (Ok St) - 3/5. #32 rpi, wins over qualifiers, 1 place away at conference. *Hucke (Mizzou) - If Lazor wins MAC. 3-4/5 criteria. *Fanta (N. Ill) - If Lazor wins MAC. 2-3/5. Locksmith (Navy) - 2/5. 1 place away at conference, wins over other qualifiers.
zeeb 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Criteria is: -Head-to-head competition -Qualifying event placement -Quality wins -Results against common opponents -Winning percentage -RPI -Coaches ranking -Number of matches contested at that weight class I believe RPI is updated after this weekend, but the coaches poll is not. New this year: Quality wins and head-to-head are given priority over the rest.
zeeb 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 New this year: Quality wins and head-to-head are given priority over the rest. Makes sense and I'm glad they're doing that. Win percentage can be misleading and the coaches poll can be biased against guys who got rolling late in the season.
