TobusRex 1,836 Report post Posted December 26, 2018 Sour dough bread rolls (usually 2 of 'em), some chunks of sharp cheddar cheese and Italian sausage. I made little sandwiches out of them. I usually ate them right after weighing in.

HokieFan 88 Report post Posted December 27, 2018 My best recollection is that we went directly from weigh-ins to the JV matches and then the varsity dual. So there wasn't a lot of time. I always had 2 or 3 pop tarts and a big gatorade. The pop tarts were easy on the stomach after starving myself, and had plenty of carbs. Energy gels would probably have been ideal but they either didn't exist at the time or I didn't know about them.
treep2000 903 Report post Posted December 27, 2018 I went to a pretty decent wrestling high school. Our coach was very strict with us, and worked with parents to require us to follow his post weigh in nutrition strategy: 1.) Exceed energy drink 2.) Noodle soup (chicken) 3.) Strawberry and Bananas fruit mix Super easy on stomach, tasted good, and we looked forward to it. He got results, no question.
rpbobcat 53 Report post Posted December 27, 2018 (edited) When I was in college we weighed in, in the morning, for afternoon matches. Except for matches where we stayed overnight,we weighted in ,in our own locker room, with the Head Coach supervising. That gave a use a few hours to hydrate and have a pre-match meal. Usually it was a bottle of Gatrorade, as soon as you stepped off the scale. Then the whole team was off to the local IHOP. If your opponent applies any pressure whatsoever to your midsection you will...."mass expel" various noxious gasses from the ignoble orifice, possibly rendering him helpless and subject to a "shock" pin. That stomach pain in the 1st match of tournaments had to be the cut, never the IHOP breakfast!

Witherman 359 Report post Posted December 27, 2018 For duals it was usually Gatorade, small lunch meat sandwich (either subway or homemade) and some form of fruit. On tournament days in high school one of the team moms would make breakfast of some sort (egg scrambolia, breakfast casserole, etc) and again fruit, some carbs.
