A question about those match notes...

Recommended Posts

You know, that info that teams put out before a match or tournament.  Someone on another forum made this comment:

But if you put too much stock in what schools put out ahead of duals, I've got that Brooklyn Bridge for sale. Seriously. Many coaches would rather fool rivals than worry about accuracy, since that can change day-to-day and it's always good to misdirect some scouting emphasis. Surprises are often helpful.

Generally true, or do coaches attempt to be honest about these things?  In particular, the "expected lineup" aspect.

I have no idea what other schools do, but PSU typically lists 2 wrestlers at a weight when the decision has not been finalized.

The question is whether schools deliberately put out misleading information.

Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson addressed the health of No. 2-ranked Nick Suriano at a press conference on Monday, saying the freshman is "wrestling right now" and that "he's progressing along, and it's looking good" ahead of this week's NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

Nope.
