TBar1977 4,532 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 These match notes tend to be pretty reliable as to who will or might be wrestling. Some solid matches look to be on tap. 141 Nick Lee v. Jimmy Cinnabon 411 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 How certain are we that Joseph wrestles? White almost knocked him off at NCAAs last year. 184 should be a doozie.

dmm53 621 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 WrestleStat comparisons (below). Rasheed vs. Venz should be good. Lee vs. Red. Nolf vs. Berger. Joseph vs. White. Hall vs. Labriola. Cassar vs. Jensen (who is undefeated). https://www.wrestlestat.com/compare/dual/60/penn-state/45/nebraska
steamboat_charlie v2 1,157 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 This actually should be a fun dual. I would expect Lee and Berge to get back on track after disappointing losses. Berger has been on a tear... can he slow down Nolf, like, at all? Joseph / White if it happens, and Rasheed / Venz are the most interesting matchups. Venz will be by far Rasheed's biggest test to date.
Plasmodium 2,255 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 NE better win 125 a shutout is likely. I think Berger/Nolf will be a regular decision.

In a high school match, Berger once edged Nolf. Since then, Nolf has tech-ed him and majored him twice. 2 PSUMike and LLB reacted to this
Katie 1,076 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 I believe Red beat Lee in the Indiana state finals. Red was a senior, seeking his fourth title, while Lee was a junior. I believe Lee was coming off an injury, and he may have bumped up a weight. I’m not sure they met any other times.
jstock 125 Report post Posted January 16, 2019 I think Nolf turns it up a notch when he wrestles Berger. I don't think Nolf is letting that loss in HS slide. Berger barely beat Deakin and we saw what Nolf did when he wants to make a statement. Berger will just try and survive and try an limit Nolf's scoring. It was the only time they have wrestled, in high school atleast, and Red was the one that went up in weight. The year before Red won at 126 and Lee won at 132. dmm53 621 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) Lee has improved over Red. Red was perhaps a higher recruit, but the improvement in the PSUr room is real. Please look at their college matches. It should be a great match-up. Edited January 17, 2019 by dmm53

Plasmodium 2,255 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 It will be a big upset if Red wins that match. He is slumping a bit and it would be nice to see him get his mojo back tomorrow.
TBar1977 4,532 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 Red beat Lee in high school. Berger beat Nolf in high school. White 2x beat Joseph in high school. All three Penn State wrestlers have performed better in college. Cael Sanderson can coach. Just trying to keep things simple here. 1 treep2000 reacted to this

David Jensen https://s3.amazonaws.com/gopsusports.com/documents/2019/1/16/WRNotes18_19NEB.pdf My two cents... I know TBar will appreciate it because I'm a freakin' realist... 141: This should be Nick Lee in a controlled/decisive decision. Should... 149: Either Berge or Verk beats Purinton, but, probably only a decision. 157: This has all the makings of being an amazing match... But... I predict Nolf goes on display and majors Berger... maybe even pins. 165: I'm betting Cenzo doesn't wrestle. First match back from an illness and seeing a quality guy like White? I doubt Cael let's that happen... So.. White over Manville (presumably) 174: Hall in a controlled decision over Labs. Hall could probably wipe the mat with him if he wants, but for some reason, Hall likes to keep it close with Top 10 guys... i don't get it.... but... 184: UPSET: Venz over Shak. Calling it here. 197: Nickal will major Schultz (or win by pinfall). HWT: Cassar over Jensen in a controlled decions, maybe major. So.. THIS time around, I could see 165 and 184 going the way of the Huskers.
