wrestlingnerd 2,597 Report post Posted February 26, 2019 Shock and awe: Is there ANY chance that he shows up in D1 at some point or is that totally out of the realm of possibility? I followed him a little in HS and then lost track after he failed to make it to a D1 school.
steamboat_charlie v2 939 Report post Posted February 26, 2019 That would really be something. He might have a couple of years of eligibility left. His recent comeback has been as impressive as it is surprising. Also reinforces the idea of "what could have been" for him at the collegiate level. Without a doubt one of the most dominant high school wrestlers I've ever seen. Different paths for different people, I guess. Excited to see what he can do domestically. If he were to make a world team it would be an incredible story... Dennisesque, but even more unlikely.

DuckFor2 180 Report post Posted February 26, 2019 over on the Int'l board. Cory Clark beats 2018 world gold but loses to Whitford, who is going up against the same 2018 world gold today (round robin) *it was also reported that Whitford beat Bonne, but no confirmation of that as someone mentioned that Bonne actually did not wrestle last wkend. wrestlingnerd 2,597 Report post Posted February 26, 2019 OK, then it's just shock or awe but maybe not shock and awe. Still, incredibly impressive for a guy some thought would never wrestle again to come back out of nowhere and beat the man who beat the man!

Sheerstress 102 Report post Posted February 26, 2019 Ben did enroll at Muskegon Community College back in Fall of 2014, and competed for them for at least part of that season. So I would think that would have started his Div. I clock back then. I don't know the exact NCAA rules for this situation, but at this point he might have part of one season left. Believe you're right... his clock would have started in 14/15, so 18/19 would be his last year of eligibility unless he qualifies for a medical or religious exception. He's probably on track to qualify for an Olympic redshirt next year, a couple years too late though.
