State vs States... National vs Nationals

Recommended Posts

It is the national tournament or the NCAA tournament just like it is the state tournament.

There is no "s" unless of course you are from the Jerseys and then you can add all the Ss yous likes.

There is when you don't add the word tournament like you did to change the subject.

Where's that grammar police guy when we need him? "Boise Idaho" or whatever... time for that guy to jump in.

(Sarcasm alert - Yes, I'm kidding. I don't remember the posters name, but I think we need grammar correctors like a billy goat needs a 3rd pecker)

Where are these other worlds?  Are weigh ins based on our gravity or theirs?

There re 8 worlds championships that qualify to the Solar System championships. Makes for a simple Bracket.

The minor Planets' championships are D2.

The Moons are D3

And the Space stations are D4

So you don't say Nationals or Olympics?

States is just an abbreviation for "state championships"

It depends. A state like Indiana has one state champ per weight class. So it’s “going to state”. Other states have a lesser competitive value, meaning multiple state champs per weight, therefore it’s “states”.

One state tournament = state

multiple state tournaments = states

How about if we lay off New Jersey. One can make fun of any state yet this message board insists on focusing on a New Jersey stereotype and it is never good to focus on stereotypes of any kind.
