Housebuye 2,438 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 In all of the ncaa craziness, Demas isn’t getting the attention he deserves. Demas placed 4th from the 9 seed, including wins over: 8 Storr 20 Findlay (MD) 13 Shoop (placed 7th) 3 Lee (placed 5th) His only losses were close matches with 1 Yianni and 4 Eierman. He took some losses during the season, but man he was on fire at NCAAs. Even Eierman and Yianni avoided the clinch with him. He is a title contender going forward if he keeps this up Also really helps out Oklahoma and Roselli. Even though Roselli hasn’t been there for long, people were already doubting him. He now has a title contender with 3 more years of eligibility and a very entertaining style. Excited to see what Demas can do. Coming into college he was written off as a non folkstyle specialist, which given his credentials is fair . His rankings were mostly based on non folkstyle success. I think that theory has been out to bed now 2 TobusRex and stp reacted to this
Katie 1,076 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 He had a great tournament. Next year, with McKenna graduating and with Eierman possibly redshirting, he’ll be in good position to reach the finals.

I think Mitch McKee is another guy who could make a finals run
scribe 1,838 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 I don’t think his style will be that difficult for opponents to prepare for. He is hard to score on. Slightly easier to stay away from his scoring. Nothing insurmountable.

I think the same can be said for Eierman, which may be why he hasn’t won a title?
scribe 1,838 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 he had a nice result, but that feels like his ceiling to me.
vitocampania 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 No doubt Demas placing 4th is only going to help OU and coaching staff in the recruiting battle. They have some tough kids coming in with Dover, Stiles, Roberts, and Heindselman. Justin Thomas(Rsoph) made it to blood round. Woodley(Rfr) beat Hokit twice this year. Hokit got it done this weekend. He had a great tourney and that's good for the Fresno program.
Coach_J 2,181 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 Love his style, attacks both high and low level. He was the frosh who impressed me most, and 41 was stacked. 1 stp reacted to this

Mphillips 1,738 Report post Posted March 25, 2019 He was great all season. He had a nice early run and then it seemed that he was figured out and took some losses. Went on a run including B12 and then into the NCAA Tourney. I can't understand why any of his opponents would still tie up with him? He was just impressive and on the go and he has strong hips and great balance. Everyone at the NCAA tourney knew what was coming and he finished 4th! That's how good he was. I would pick Lee in a rematch.

Just because you didn't see him, doesn't mean that no one saw him. If he was a secret to you...you weren't paying attention. Just like you would, 'pick Lee' against Joey again right? Stop it! You're being silly or obtuse maybe? Edited March 26, 2019 by Mphillips

Odd styles are accurately scouted immediately. I mean, Spencer Lee was effectively scouted, but Dom Demas? Never. TobusRex 2,108 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 Demas impressed me a great deal. Guys here saying he's peaked already are being pretty dismissive of him. He was only a FR this year, he's only going to get better. 1 stp reacted to this
scribe 1,838 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 It’s more about the style than about age. Some guys don’t have a varied Arsenal and he is no exception to that. Just has a quirky offense and solid defense from strong legs. I just think most top end wrestlers can get around him and will now take him more seriously. CoachWrestling 432 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 His hips are like a rock, very hard to shoot and score on. He’s going to be in the title run every year. 1 MikePorcelli reacted to this

Very dangerous wrestler and difficult to wrestle for very different reasons than demas. Eireman has more variety to defend against than demas
jeffrideal 155 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 Out of HS, I thought he was super talented, but too short. It looks like he has grown a few inches since then and has really improved. He reminds me a bit of Ian Miller, not afraid to go big. It will be fun to watch him develop. Also really happy for Lou Roselli. Hopefully he can continue to build this team. How long before Logan Stieber head to OU? Seems like Stieber is almost forgotten at tOSU.
vitocampania 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 That would be great to have Logan Steiber. One would think Molinaro has helped out Demas quite a bit and the RTC will get better.

He recently got married to a former tOSU athlete (track I want to say?) and she is embedded in the Columbus community too. I think she may even run a small business there or something. KingK0ng 175 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 I hope this kickstarts the Roselli led OU program, he just finished his third year in Norman and frankly after watching the Sooners when they dualed against Lehigh I worried about the programs future. They looked absolutely horrendous that day, and after OU hiring what was thought to be the top coach possible in Mark Cody and striking out, then hiring Roselli who was also highly touted, that if he wasn't able to turn the program around, that OU just might kill it. Cruiser94 17 Report post Posted March 26, 2019 There is no doubt Demas is an exciting wrestler to watch. The only question I had a bout him was if he would cut the weight in college as it never looked as he was cutting in HS. But he looked great. No way is top 4 his ceiling. If anyone thinks he cant win it in the next three years, I feel you are probably a hater. Congrats to Lou R. for having a nice tournament. I hope this year was a springboard for the programs future. 2 Housebuye and stp reacted to this
