Will Wrestling Ever Have a One and Done?

Kind of a different topic, but I believe Oklahoma State had a guy who placed high at NCAAs as a Freshman, who quit the team afterward because he won an academic scholly. Can't remember his name or anything, but I think he finished 4th at NCAAs.

is that Newby you're thinking of? vague recall that he wanted to concentrate on music?

PD3 was kind of a six and done

But 17 PhD's assure him a great future with so many fields to choose from. The real reason he did not wrestle for Iowa was the 4 PhD dissertations he was working on left him with little mat time. Tom Brands did not like having a wrestler who could spell his name on the first try without note cards and pushed him away privately while saying he wanted him in public.

you won't see what is a traditional "one and done" in wrestling... if someone was inclined to do that, they would ultimately skip wasting time in D1 wrestling in the first place... the only reason you see that in the stick and ball games is because they are forced to stay out of the professional leagues... no one who wins a D1 title as a freshmen doesn't want to be there...

and please, quit all the nonsense about the college degree... that piece of paper can be purchased anywhere at any time... plenty of people have degrees who never wrestled... so annoying to hear that rhetoric constantly regurgitated...
