Decided to do a little research based on a previous thread. The list includes the wrestlers by school and year they earned a medal - names in bold indicate an Olympic year. Some names will be duplicates due to the fact that they competed for multiple schools (i.e. Kevin Jackson, although LSU probably doesn't deserve to be mentioned).  The number in () next to the school indicates the amount of individuals that earned medals. The earliest year included is 1969.

I saw that only after I posted. So, I included my link. Good job throwing this together.

LOL...Bruce Baumgartner makes Indiana State look a lot better than they should :D 4 Golds and 13 medals at the World Level.

Agree .. haha...  But it also makes me wonder why we don't talk more about big Bruce in greatest freestylers.  I know he gets mentioned but it seems he is further down the ladder on discussion.  13 world level medals.  That is a US record that may never be broke.  To me what is amazing is he did it before you could make a living doing it.   Before the payouts.

And at a weight with longevity issues. He truly is spectacular. He will always be in the conversation for best ever in the US, because nobody will break his medal record. Sure he will eventually be 7th or 8th in golds (hopefully. Right now he is 3rd I think? Behind Smith and Burroughs. Snyder has 3. Taylor, J’den and Dake have 1), but he will be talked about

Jim Humphrey is an Ohio State alum. He earned a Big Ten title and NCAA All America status as a team captain in Columbus. Is there a reason his Silver is NA if it was earned for Team USA?

As a former history prof, I love the list so thanks for compiling and updating. If it is a work in progress, I would love to see the addition of the guys thar made world or olympic teams as that is an accomplishment in and of itself. I am assuming the highest producing schools will see their numbers swell but would think we would add more schools with team members than we have with only medalist.

I was lucky enough to meet Bruce and get coached by him a bit. Really a great guy, but that was before he won any of his world medals.

Yeah, Bruce was the man. I'm convinced he could've stayed top 5 for another few years if he'd hung around even longer.

I met him and used to hang around Edinboro when they wrestled at the Wilkes Open. Nice guy.

Ok here is my list.   Unfortunately, mine includes all Olympic and World Medalist, both Freestyle and Greco-Roman.  I didn't differentiate. Looking back. I probably should have.  I also included women.

I also wasn't sure where to place some guys who wrestled for multiple schools.  So I put them somewhere.  Don't like it. Then put em somewhere else.

I also didn't include Northern Michigan on the list either.  Maybe there are some other schools I shouldn't have included either.

For what it's worth.
