sisi 20 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Congratulations to PD3. Taylor's health is the unknown here, if he is 100 then PD3 will have to wait until next year. If not then PD3 will represent the USA come world championships. Look at PD3's interview afterwards, he is not perfect but much improved as far as attitude since last year. GreatWhiteNorth 176 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 That was a fun match! Got heated, but wasn't any closer to punches than one of the women's matches that came soon after. Neither guy was any worse than the other. In any case, I like the emotion - and with Taylor being potentially banged up, anything could happen in the PD3 v Taylor matchup. The future looks bright for USA Wrestling!

Yep, I misremembered the time. I still stand by my assessment in general, though. DOwney looked like he was letting Heflin up, and Heflin bucked up into him a bit, and then DOwney started getting a LITTLE rough on top. I think this is being blown out of proportion more because of who it was rather than what happened. 2 GockeS and Blue Dragons reacted to this

It would be a crazy redemption story if he makes the world team (realistic with taylor injury maybe?) and then medaled. If he makes the team, everyone will be rooting for him 1 Blue Dragons reacted to this
LJB 1,495 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Finally watched the match... my thoughts are anyone who had an opinion previous to that match is not going to persuaded to change regardless... no matter, both of them can act like whatever they want afterwards, but, there was 6 minutes to be the tough guy and only one of the participants imposed their will on the other, put points on the board, and won the match and series... heflin has his chance to be the tough guy and failed... he should have taken his medicine and acknowledged Downey was the better man... because Downey proved it in two straight... no flukes... Heflin looks bad by not accepting his position in the pecking order... 1 Blue Dragons reacted to this

He's supposed to shake his hand while the guy is still talking crap? Time was still on the clock and Heflin was still wrestling. Heflin wrestled dirty the entire second match...eye gouging, hands to the face, head butts...what match were you watching? 1 Full Nelson reacted to this

olddirty 273 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Just rewatched it with sound. Downy stops wrestling the second the referee blows the whistle. If you want to complain about Downy being too physical with his gut lock, I would really question your intentions. Do you really think being physical with a lock is a disgrace or do you just want a reason to hate Downy?

Downey beat a guy who has zero offense by nearly the virtual minimum score of 2-0. I guess it could have been worse, like 1-0. Can't believe he was chest thumping over that win. He had no offense then either, but kid was tougher than nails. He beat or challenged guys who I thought were better. There is no such thing as an easy win in WTT best of three. Always chest-thump-worthy.

pamela 1,334 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Of course PD3 has been all over social media since WTTs - on Twitter alone, he's sent out close to 50 tweets following his match. It's like Tweeting is part of his training routine, haha. I guess the mind games are actually a smart move though since DT is heavy on social media and you know he's seeing all the jawing. On the other hand, if I was DT I would absolutely request a postponed wrestle-off just to mess with Downey - force him to have the discipline to keep training/peaking and having to make weight that much longer. Let him stew in his own saltiness and impatience, maybe he'll end up shooting himself in his own foot. 2 BallandChain and TBar1977 reacted to this

jackwebster 113 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 A couple of weeks ago, I asked you guys whether or not I should root for this guy. I got my answer. I will not. I was only considering it because of his "redemption" story and he doesnt seem redeemed (no matter what heflin did). There are some guys who seem like arrogant assholes off the mat but whose style is so compelling that you root for them anyway (Brands). There are some guys who seem like assholes on the mat but whose success is so compelling that you root for them anyway (Tsargush and ... err ... Brands). I don't like Downey's stompy plodding style on the mat and I don't see anything admirable about his off the mat character. So, I will be cheering for the other guy. jsmalls131313 37 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 PD3 currently having another mental breakdown on Twitter. That crackhead is actually calling out DC in MMA. Guess hes really trying to get his name out there before DT techs him 10-0 in the first period, again. And everyone loses interest in him, again. And he will blame it on his coaches or someone else, like he always does.

Hah! News to me, I went and checked twitter and PD3 has blocked me. This is ironic because I really like the guy and have been defending him. PD3 criticized Askren for smiling after getting tech-falled by Burroughs. I thought that was a cheap shot, I tweeted Askren is 34 years old competing against a world champ, PD3 will be a bouncer at a casino at 34. PD3 deleted his own tweet and evidently blocked me. A guy who can dish it out ought to be able to take it. Oh well, I still like the guy; like his wrestling, honesty and free spirit. 1 pamela reacted to this

TBar1977 3,871 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Downey is talking up his hair now Pat Downey @iAmPatDowney 5h5 hours ago More Pat Downey Retweeted Joe Kania word on street @kyledake444 & @magicman_psu seeking special wrestle offs.. they don’t wanna deal with the best hair in @USAWrestling @ringing57 ;) #GOONZ A) Best hair is Ringer. B) Downey is not going to ever beat a healthy Taylor, so pretty much anything is liable to happen to that hair before he beats DT.
