Gantry 1,604 Report post Posted June 19, 2019 Whoa, D1 wrestling in Kentucky! "Field hockey and wrestling will compete in DI with independent status. "
Bronco 134 Report post Posted June 19, 2019 I'm shocked that the PAC 12 hasn't invited them to join their conference (SARCASM ALERT) 2 GranbyTroll and Jeffm reacted to this
Show_Me 260 Report post Posted June 19, 2019 I know it’s early in the process, but, what will be their “Qualifier” for the NCAA Tournament ?
SetonHallPirate 804 Report post Posted June 19, 2019 Would be very surprised if it wasn't the SoCon, especially considering they are already a SoCon affiliate member in lacrosse.
KTG119 817 Report post Posted June 20, 2019 when did University of Kentucky drop wrestling (early / mid 80s?)? I'm assuming that was last time there has been D1 wrestling in Kentucky. SoCon for 'permanent' membership rather than being an independent would make sense.

SoCon for 'permanent' membership rather than being an independent would make sense. Kentucky dropped in 1982. They wouldn’t be a permanent member in the SoCon, they’d be an affiliate. Pinnum 793 Report post Posted June 20, 2019 There is no reason to join a conference. They don't need a qualifying tournament until 2024. This will allow them to schedule as they see fit. They should schedule duals with the weakest of the "brand name" D1 teams so that the wrestling teams looks to be competitive in D1.
CB 49 Report post Posted June 20, 2019 21 hours ago, Bronco said: I'm shocked that the PAC 12 hasn't invited them to join their conference (SARCASM ALERT) With ULAR in the conference, this one seems to be in the correct footprint for the conference. I say go for it :-)
