Teasdale Interview

Long shouldn't have wrestled in the first place. It had been common knowledge the kid had issues. Knowing that, I dont know why we should give Cael a pat on the back for kicking him off the team. He should have done something sooner and that is the issue. If anything he enabled his behavior. You're going to bash Brands for making efforts to rehabilitate a kid and celebrate Cael for treating a kid like he is expendable? That's some real backwards thinking right there.

And there is that duplicity. When Cael brought Long in, it was Cael treating him as expendable, never mind he knew the family and Andrew from when he was a child, yet with Brands bringing in Teasdale, who has a lot of serious issues, arguably more serious than Long, he is making an effort to rehabilitate him, lol. How can you not realize how ridiculous you sound.

Yeah, Long hasn't been involved at PSU since 2011, because he went to prison! Do you not see the difference between rape and a gun accident? You really trying to compare the two as equals?

One key difference is that the gun incident is recent while Long was back in 2011. Another key difference is that the shooting is just one of many incidents by Iowa wrestlers since 2011. Why don't we compare the programs since Long? Iowa has quite the rap sheet, much more extensive than PSU or any other program. This is indisputable, or shall I make a list?

You know what the difference between guys with baggage that come to Iowa and the ones that come to PSU? At Iowa they dont wrestle if they dont get their crap together (Downey) and if they do you can see the change has been positive(Desanto). PSU doesnt seem to take any kinds of precautions.

Numerous team penalty points; behavior was so bad your coaches had to run on the mat more then once to control DeSanto. Yea that's quite positive. Well at least he didn't pull a gun during a match, I guess that is a success story by Iowa standards.

Why dont we compare everything from the most egregious offense? You are equating all these things with rape. Come on man, they are not even close

He knows that and is just being obtuse since it's a losing argument if you only look at what convictions guys have had and still been allowed to wrestle.

Wait wut?

Teasdale has arguably more serious issues than Long???

Unlike Long (dating back to his ISU days), to my knowledge Teasdale was never arrested.  Basically it seems the issue(s) with him are smoking and maybe not going to class.   If he wasn’t a 4X PA state champ, no one would care since that’s a similar story a ton of college freshman have.

Guys - relax!  This urge to tear others down is pathetic.

Perfectly fine for programs to give kids another chance. And it is to be expected that some kids go off the rails.   Doesn't make the program evil or bad.  Particularly when the programs have graduated large numbers of fine young men.

And .. not every kid is going to be a good fit for each program.  Stuff happens, people move on.  All good.

Both Penn State and Iowa have storied and revered programs.  Programs to be envied and admired.

This incessant urge to find flaws and tear folks down is something that is building in our society.  Not good.  Not good at all.

You are correct, but I feel compelled to point out that we also aren't profiting from this attitude that Teasdale is instantly upgraded to role model status for admitting he basically got himself thrown out of school. It's like everybody is an all out troll or cheeseball.

He was given a spot on PSUs team when he had obvious problems that KJ insisted on addressing before allowing him to wrestle? What dont you understand? Or are you just that blind by your fanaticism?

You are just trolling. He was given a 2nd chance. Teasdale is on at least his 2nd chance. I guess you'll run down Brands if Teasdale can't make it.

If teasdale would have ran to Iowa second semester and started with no second thought about it, then it would be an equal comparison.

That would never have happened though.
