maligned 455 Report post Posted September 17, 2019 On we roll...Day 5 draws: Burkert has Hockova of the Czech Republic, then probably 2018 U23 5th place from Russia, and finally #1 Rong of China in the quarters. Ragan has Lysak of Ukraine and then #2 Morais of Canada. #1 Molinari gets Nguyen of Vietnam and then potentially 2-time medalist Mattsson of Sweden. #2 Gray has a young Italian first round followed by the winner of two previous 69/70kg bronze medalists up in weight. 1 Nicky_Pipes reacted to this
sidakova4991 68 Report post Posted September 17, 2019 We might as well just assume that Risako Kawai wins at 57kg. She is by far the best there. Rong vs. Kawai should be fun, though. If I recall correctly, Rong isn't a high scoring wrestler; whereas Kawai is just that. Yuzuka Inagaki (only 18!) should be a favorite I imagine, she won the Asian championships this year. Will be interesting to see. Molinari has potential for gold.
Jon_Kozak 228 Report post Posted September 18, 2019 Really rough start for USA. Ragan winning 2-0 and gets thrown and pinned, Hildebrandt loses 8-2, Burkert gets pinned by RUS. Only bright spot so far is Adeline with a quick 10-0 tech.

Jon_Kozak 228 Report post Posted September 18, 2019 Going into the quarters in a few minutes. Forest and Adeline will be back to back on mat A. Ragan is eliminated and Burkert is still alive but the Russian she lost to has a defending World Champ in Rong from China.

jeffrideal 115 Report post Posted September 18, 2019 (edited) Hate to say it, but Molinari didn't shoot but once. She pushed the UKR wrestler around the mat, but ultimately had no offense. maligned 455 Report post Posted September 18, 2019 (edited) It was annoying that the announcers had no clue on criteria. Molinari lost because the Ukrainian had more 2's. Edited September 18, 2019 by maligned
