lu1979 218 Report post Posted September 23 The US has a very deep bench for FS wrestling now. I would expect that each weight will probably have 10 to 14 wrestlers qualify for the Olympic trials tournament. There will be quite a few good wrestlers who don't make it to the tournament. I am going to lay out some weights with a list of guys who will be contending for the tournament spots. Most guys I have just taken an edjucated guess at they will compete. A few guys I have put in multiple weights - obviously they will be picking one soon. Weight 57kg Weight 65kg Weight 74kg 1 D Fix 1 Z Retherford 1 J Burroughs 2 S Lee 2 Y Diakamaholis 2 K Dake 3 T Gilman 3 J Oliver 3 I Martinez 4 N Garret 4 F Molinaro 4 M Hall 5 T Graff 5 J Eierman 5 M Lewis 6 J Colon 6 J McKenna 6 J Nolf 7 N Megaludis 7 B J Futrell 7 J Green 8 Nato 8 J Chamberlain 8 D Carr 9 D Cruz 9 S Gross 9 C Martstellar 10 V Arrujau 10 D Demas 10 Vi Joseph 11 N Suriano 11 A Pico 11 A Marinelli 12 Z Sanders 12 D Heil 12 Log Massa 13 J Rodriguez 13 M Kolodzik 13 R Deakin 14 Z Richards 14 B Sorenson 14 H Hidlay 15 J Mueller 15 K Storr 15 T Gant 16 J Delgado 16 J Ness 16 A Valencia 17 F Perelli 17 17 18 Cory Clark 18 18 Weight 86kg Weight 97kg Weight 125kg 1 J Cox 1 K Snyder 1 N Gwizdowski 2 D Taylor 2 J Cox 2 G Steveson 3 A Deringer 3 Bo Nickal 3 M Parris 4 Z Valencia 4 K Gadsen 4 A Coon 5 Bo Nickal 5 Ty Walz 5 D Bradley 6 P Downey 6 A Cassar 6 T Nelson 7 N Heflin 7 G Kerklievet 7 J Varner 8 K Moore 8 K Moore 8 A Cassar 9 S Brooks 9 J Kasper 9 G Kerklievet 10 M Machiovell 10 P Brucki 10 J Woods 11 M Martin 11 T Sloan 11 T Hall 12 T Hidlay 12 Z Elam 12 B Telford 13 A Brooks 13 J Warner 13 Hemida 14 H Zilmer 14 AJ Ferrari 14 D White 15 N Reenan 15 N Nevills 16 M Dean 17 D Foster 18 N Jackson 19 L DePrez 20 L Davison There is a lot of talent in those lists that won't make it into the Olympic trials tourney. I am sure I missed/overlooked some wrestlers who deserve to be mentioned. Can't wait to follow the drama. 3 whaletail, AZ_wrestling and Giovanni reacted to this

scribe 1,653 Report post Posted September 23 I’d move Downey down to 12-14th

PSUMike 427 Report post Posted September 24 Can probably add Abounader to team USA after the BS this weekend.

He had an incredibly lucky draw if you don't consider the Israel boycott crap. Abounader would have had a great shot at making the finals on that side of the bracket had he been allowed to compete. Does anyone have any info on how they made him forfeit? Couldn't he just say screw it and go out and wrestle without the coach or support of the Lebanon wrestling organization? It's not like he is an Iranian - he doesn't have to go back there and live in Lebanon. If I were to add him in that list (can he compete for the US now?) I think he would be in the top 10 to 15 area. AZ_wrestling 62 Report post Posted September 24 I’m wondering if any of the young guns who’ve recently had success at juniors can make a serious run. Vito, Carr, Parris.

He was scheduled to take a trip to Lebanon with his family after the Worlds. They have property and relatives there. Lebanon's wrestling organization is basically just one guy in an office. They didn't do much, if anything, to work with Dom. I feel bad for the guy. When I interviewed him in April, he said he was very proud of his family heritage and trying to help create a sports legacy, but it was a major pain. I hope he can find some type of opportunity and get a transfer waiver or something (if such a thing exists).

77again 25 Report post Posted September 25 The depth of these weights are stunning. Example, 285. At 6,7,8, 9 Nelson, Varner, Cassar, Kerkvliet. The other weights are just as deep or deeper. I don't ever recall the U.S. being so stacked with talent. 1 AZ_wrestling reacted to this

I couldn’t disagree more, he wrestled for Lebanon because he virtually had no shot at making the American team. Imo he shouldn’t ever get a chance to wrestle for team USA. He chose to represent a country with questionable politics and it bit him in the ass. But we should feel bad for him? I don’t think so 1 nhs67 reacted to this

I don’t think so Quit being a chump. The Russians are exporting left and right nowadays. The only other country that can come close to their depth is us. We need to export when and where we can to try to bump some of their toons off. Unless you'd rather have US folks have truly one rep where the Ruskies have 8 or 9, because that is the path they're taking.
