Cptafw164 96 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 1 hour ago, red blades said: That means, if seeds hold - It'll be Jacobsen vs. AWP's Brown in quarters. And at 149, Hoffman vs Ogunsanya. (Wait for him - 5... 4... 3... 2... ) sorry I’m late! I called the 149 seed refinement yesterday on the AWP wrestling alumni Facebook page. Between those QF match ups of army and Lehigh combatants, Army can devastate lehigh’s advantage and swing it in their favor by winning both of those. 149 is the most important weight for Army to out-perform and Lehigh to maintain. Subsequently it sets up a Cornell semi in both weights with an even shot for Ogunsanya against Richard. Princeton worked some magic with 157. Monday has no competition topside with artalona dropping out. Hartman is now facing Humphreys in the semis. That is a crucial weight for Army to maintain and Lehigh to out perform. Cptafw164 96 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 With the only criteria for coaches to challenge the pre seeds as showing “errors in the calculations of points,” I find it very amusing Princeton and Army, in essence, won the battles by correcting the math of the committee. Cornell, Navy and Lehigh didn’t fare so well, so they are in need of a tutor.
kyleinthecircle 7 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 Can anyone explain to me why Furman would drop, or want to be dropped to 7 seed? I understand that Stewart is definitely his best match up of Harvard and Wood, but now even if he beats Stewart, he will have Wood in the semifinal. Seems like the 4 seed would be better to have the match with Harvard in the semifinal and only face one of those guys. Perhaps the other coaches found an error but otherwise I am confused. Doesn't he also have a win over Doyle? Or should I just give up trying to figure out these seeds because they are based on some computer algorithm? red blades 245 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Brackets are up - 125 LaJoie is seeded 11, will face 6 seed Treaster from Navy 133 Tucker gets a bye direct to QF's (does he get points for that?) 141 Baughman is the 5 seed, will face 12 seed Daly SHU 149 Richard #3, will face 14 seed Garr from Columbia 157 Santor0 seeded 12, will face 5 see Mosher from Columbia 165 Dawkins is 9 seed, will face 8 seed Meyer from Lehigh 174 Womack is 4 seed, will face 13seed Fullerton from F&M 184 Loew is 5 seed, faces #12 McClure from LIU 197 Darmstadt #2, faces #15 S. DePrez from Bing 285 Furman #7, faces #10 Pelusi from F&M Need some big bonus points this round to build up some cushion. LaJoie, Santoro, and Dawkins all underdogs, but potentially winnable matches. LETS GO RED! 125 - every road is tough. let's go. 133: no; bye as a heavy favorite is a mixed blessing for team scoring. 141: Baughman - Trybus is a great bubble match for the AQ. Losing doesn't end it all but what an advantage from winning. 149: Our Army friend has explained why the path to top 4 is so treacherous with Klod or Prince waiting in the consi semi if all else goes chalk. the solution? beat hoffman. here we go. 157: I think Santoro had a real shot at beating Mosher before a great pinning move but Mosher has been much better since that mach. Tough road. 165: Get that W against Lehigh. Meyer beat Brindley in SV in the dual while Dawkins was subbing at 174. Very winnable. 174: Good draw here until the semis as long as Womack is healthy. 184: Loew - Harvey in the QF is a great matchup. 197: Darmstadt is Darmstadt. Let's do it. 285: Tough road wherever you start. Sullivan may be a better draw than Wood or Slavikouski. In any event, Furman looked outmatched against the other two. less than 30 minutes to go... Gage McClenahan at 145 (AA) into the SF with a comfortable win. The other kid had no offense but tons of funky defense. Not quite enough though. 9-3 IIRC. Cole Handlovic at 145 (AAA) into the SF with an 8-3 win. Gave up the first takedown then had no more problems. Edited March 6, 2020 by ugarte

ugarte 321 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) LaJoie with the win over Treaster! Path to 7th just got easier. The less you have to wrestle the better! Plus #3 Colaiocco got decked so he'll be facing Drexel's Mininno and a win puts him in the tournament. Not going to look past anyone but Mininno was 6-12 coming into EIWA. Let's go Dom! ugarte 321 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Womack with a first period fall. Let F&M get to a single leg but got the TD himself. Almost got the cradle there but it went neutral and he got the cradle from the restart. Excellent on top. Really glad to see Santoro get his revenge W and Dawkins with a really head-in-the-game takedown at the edge in SV. What a start. 6-0, 1 WBF, 2 WMD plus a bye for Chas. ugarte 321 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Perfect first round. Furman 5-2 over a new big Pelusi brother from F&M. That was a lot of beef. Second round for Furman will be interesting. In the third round of his match against Navy, Sullivan was tripped and yelled out in pain. Unclear if it was knee or hammy but he got up, continued and looked slower but no less strong. red blades 245 Report post Posted March 6, 2020 Well, Wrestlestat has Cornell winning only 5/10 in the QF round. Some of those look to be pretty close, though. I'm seeing 7/10 possible through my RED tinted glasses...
