Concussion rates in athletics

Recommended Posts

I’ve always been surprised by these studies that list wrestling as one of the most concussion prone sports. I remember seeing something a few years back that listed wrestling as the #1 most concussion prone college sport...and I’ll never believe wrestling has more concussions that football.

Has anyone ever seen a breakdown of what type of impact results in most concussions? For example how much of it is caused by head to mat impact, 3rd party impact (collision with other people in a crowded room or head hitting practice room wall or object), or wrestler to wrestler collision (head butts, catching a knee or hip bone while shooting, etc.)?
