spladle08 721 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 Some really great answers so far, and so many people make Olympic teams the list has to be short... but for me its Grant Nakamura from Iowa State. Really thought he had a shot at it back in 04. But even the best struggle sometimes.
spladle08 721 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 But for really, Olympics spots are limited. I think this list of NCAA murderers to never do it is just astronomical.
2td3nf 536 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 I’m sure there’s many, but I’ll throw out Lee Fullhart since he came real close to beating Cael for the Olympic spot. 1 spladle08 reacted to this

Dake may go down as the best since he will likely keep poachin non-Olympic-weight Golds... but his career isnt over... Hell Taylor may also never see an Olympics. Will be interesting next few years
stp 542 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 (edited) Jim Jordan. Gave John Smith a better battle at the trials, then he faced at the Olympics. Edited October 16, 2019 by stp 1 fadzaev2 reacted to this
Fishbane 118 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 Lee Kemp or are we not counting the wrestlers that won the 1980 trials? 3 Time World Champ which is one more than Dake. mspart 193 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 Andre is a very good choice for this. He's recently tried with Greco but no joy. mspart
TripNSweep 464 Report post Posted October 15, 2019 Tom Erickson, stuck behind Baumgartner for a decade. Could beat anyone else but him. Also Stephen Neal, world champion, looked unbeatable but McCoy had his number and couldn't beat him in the trials or anywhere. 2 1 Peso, GranbyTroll and Eagle26 reacted to this

Technically he did qualify, so I’m not sure if he is considered an Olympian or not? 1 1 Peso and spladle08 reacted to this

Peso 331 Report post Posted October 16, 2019 I gotta go with Lee Kemp for now, but let's see how Dake and Taylor wind up their career before we make our comparison. Both could make this team.

Gantry 1,604 Report post Posted October 16, 2019 It's subjective, but Lee Kemp doesn't count to me. IMO the spirit of the question is the best guy who wasn't good enough to make the team because someone domestically beat him out. Beating everyone, qualifying for the team and not wrestling because of a boycott isn't the same as losing to someone in the OTTs. 2 KTG119 and stp reacted to this
