MikeMalLover 3 Report post Posted October 31, 2019 I always look forward to the yearly “Dark Horse” thread. If it hasn't been created then let's start now!! Define a Dark horse however you want. My definition of a Dark Horse would be a first year blue chipper or returning guy to potential AA or be the Champ come March.

goheels1812 676 Report post Posted November 1, 2019 I’ll participate. I’ve got Jamie Hernandez at 133. He wrested at 141 for UNC last year and the results were just average. I think he’s going to turn some heads this year back at his ideal weight. This past May he beat Roman Bravo Young pretty convincingly at 61 kg in freestyle. If that translates over to folk style then watch out this year. 1 MikeMalLover reacted to this
Asa Packer 16 Report post Posted November 1, 2019 I think the criteria is better stated as first time AA, whether frosh or returning upperclassman. I'll go with homer picks of Lehigh's Humphreys at 157 and Weiler at 184.
KTG119 820 Report post Posted November 1, 2019 my picks for 1st time AA w/o thinking too hard are Phillippi, Sasso, and Carr. I wouldn't necessarily call those dark horse calls for that accomplishment though. maybe more of a dark horse AA pick is Wilcke, I think he places as a senior. ConnorsDad 596 Report post Posted November 1, 2019 I'm not exactly sure where I just think all of the following who have never made All-American have potential to finish somewhere in the top 8 and none of them are ranked in the top 10 right now. Lucas Davison Northwestern 197 Tanner Harvey American 184 Demetrius Romero Utah Valley 165 I can't look it up because I'm driving but that big son of a bitch for Clarion at

If he’s wrestling well that’s absolutely a guy no one will want to see in the tournament. But unfortunately he’s also a guy that could go 0-2 in the tournament haha. He’s P4P the best of the guys in my tier 2. 184 is sneaky deep and stacked with dark horse candidates. Lots of really good guys who are either freshman or haven’t AA’d. Trent Hidlay Hunter Bolen Louie DePrez Nico Bonaccorsi Gavin Hoffman Sam Colbray Victor Marcelli Even Taylor Lujan qualifies...was surprised when I just looked it up and saw he hasn’t AA’d.
