Here's the reality we live in - It's Nov and the coaches want a push but not too extreme.  Wrestling three or 4 All Americans or nationally ranked opponents in a 5 hour period is not beneficial for their athletes so what you saw was the compromise.  174 was just too rich that early on in the season .  Again, remember it's a round robin, so there's no light match when putting them all together.   Bottom line there was 18 D-1 teams and they absolutely love the format -  378 matches for 240 wrestlers, everyone getting 3 or 4 matches and done by 2:30 PM .  The format affords teams to get RPI quality matches, which is a major quest for them.  It also afford some opportunity for younger wrestlers by having multiple pools.  More importantly it creates parity.   I am not sure there was that good of wrestling anywhere else in the country that early.  In the future www.tournaflex.com will help you follow the event a bit more concise . Thanks for following the event .
