spladle08 741 Report post Posted November 17, 2019 I'll play. I'm a homer and Love FIX but I think its a toss between he and Gilman. Gross looked great and I understand the love from everyone, but he was 1 second from losing to Suriano, if he doesn't get that tilt, is the hype train still at the station. Yainni..... JO, Zain, Frank are all great, but I see him as the most complete of our reps. JO is similar but has 0 gas tank, and mentally or whatever refuses to wrestle 6 minutes. Zain remains Metcalf Junior, solid enough to win domestically but meh, not many expectations due to limited attacks. Frank is frank, also limited attacks but small, and tough to score on. I think Yainni is our best bet at a medal, but one bad/good weekend opens the door for any of these 4. JB... as much as its fun to say Dake has gained this tremendous confidence by beating Jabril Hasanov, I've watched JB go to war with Chamizo and Sidakov, and elite elite. people, either winning or losing by the slimmest of margins. i know the stigma of a non olympic weight can be blown out of proportion, but Hasanov would legit be 4th domestically. I honestly don't see him having lost a step, and apparently i don't see Dake in this new majestic light everyone else, does. He's had some close matching with Valencia and RInger over the last 2 years and I think most would agree JB is better than them. I think it's a war but i like JB to hold serve. Cox: I still believe he goes down. DT has been on the shelf so that puts him a little further back, but honestly I wouldnt favor a healthy and active DT, much less one coming off the bench.... Cox wrestles this weight and puts up a memorable performance come the Olympics. SNyderman: I think Nickal could add some intrigue and I genuinely wouldnt be surprised if he pulls the upset. If Bo goes down. Obviously there is 0 intrigue and its as clear cut as it gets. but predicting against SNyder seems foolish. Gable. We've see the Gwiz show. and it's been close with Gable to this point..... i think a year of wrestling men, and concentrating FS. willl give ole Gable to little bit of separation he needs. I don't think we have a chance of beating the top 2 guys here, but whoever we send will be capable of a Bronze. THats my story and I'm sticking to it. 3 1 goheels1812, Peso, Nicky_Pipes and 1 other reacted to this

Was going to post my own long form prediction but I agree with pretty much all of yours. My only change would be I’ve got Dake taking over at 74. I think he’s finally caught Burroughs. But to me it’s so close. I feel like either guy could win that match just depending on the day. Everything else I think you’re spot on with though. mspart 193 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 Agreed, the analysis is pretty good. I see JB, DT, KS. I know JC beat DT but that was a few years ago. DT has rocked the world in pretty dominant fashion. If healthy, I don't see DT losing. If not, if Cox chooses to go after him, he wins. mspart 1 spladle08 reacted to this

Mokoma 272 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 Currently I would take: 57 kg - Lee 65 kg - Oliver 74 kg - Dake 86 kg - Nickal 97 kg - Cox 125 kg - Steveson It's the changing of the guard for me. Definitely might need to change a few picks once final weights are determined.
treep2000 914 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 57kg - Fix. Lee has taken too much time off for me to seriously draw a conclusion. Fix seems to have surpassed Gilman. The top 4 dogfight will end up being Suriano, Fix, Gilman and Gross. Fix is a freestyle specialist, and thus, my pick is Fix. 65kg - Yianni. He and Zain are the cream of the crop. Top 4 dogfight between Zain, Oliver, Yianni and Frank, with Yianni winning the spot. Call it a feeling. That's all I got. 74kg - Dake. I think the guard changes... Burroughs takes Runner-up this time. Top 4 dogfight between... Dake, Burroughs, Imar and (going out on a limb here) David Carr. 86kg - Taylor. I sincerely hope that Taylor and Cox or Taylor and Bo do not meet in the Semi's. Top four dogfight between Taylor, Cox, Bo, and Ringer. 97kg - Snyder. If Cox goes up, I take Snyder over Cox in a 3-2 type of match. Maybe even criteria both times. Going to be super tough on this one. Top 4 dogfight doesn't matter...as it's Snyder (and Cox) and then everyone else. 125kg - Gwiz. I just don't think Gable dethrones Gwiz. This is his last shot at Olympic Glory, and I think he lays it on the line vs. Gable. Top 4 dogfight will be Gwiz, Gable, Cassar, and (going out on a limb here) Kerkvliet. 3 spladle08, Peso and emk1 reacted to this

Ogalthorpe Haywood 322 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 Fix, I think he takes control of this weight for the foreseeable future. Zain, JO takes out Yianni in the bottom semi and Zain beats Frank in the top. Dake, it’s his time if completely healthy. Taylor, if Cox goes down the cut will be too much, nobody else is a threat (maybe Bo if he goes down). Snyder, the move to NLWC will prove to be beneficial. Gwiz, Gable makes it really close but it’s Gwiz’s spot for one more year. 1 Peso reacted to this

alliseeisgold 78 Report post Posted November 19, 2019 burroughs > dake and cox > taylor. All day, every day. This shouldn't even be a debate. We've seen this play out before. When one guy has another guys # - it usually doesn't change. Dake vs Taylor is a prime example. Dake could win 100 times though and fans would still pick taylor. I'm not picking michigan to beat ohio state anytime soon and neither am I picking dake to beat burroughs. It's a "show me" situation. As good as dake looks and as uber talented as he is , burroughs is the same with more experience and a good sample size history of beating dake at his own game. Winning close matches. I'm not picking jb to lose a close match to anyone on planet earth not named sidakov.

bnwtwg 484 Report post Posted November 19, 2019 Dake vs. Sidakov - first one to get a pushout wins! But he has to beat JB first who could very well be the champ if he goes to the well

DAKE IS GREAT (I'm not being dismissive) But all the sleeping with different lights and grounding himself daily and all that crap, hasn't made him better than JB, he simply changed to a shallow shallow shallow, non Olympic weight. He could win the series, he could've won a lot of their h2h but he hasn't and theres no reason to think thats changed based on Sidakov having JB's number. And as I've said numerous times to those "He's lost a step" people..... go back to almost* any year of his career (Think there was won where he ran over everyone), he has a masters in late match heroics, he has a LOT of close matches, most years. Anyway, JB until I'm proved wrong. 1 CaliWrestler reacted to this
steamboat_charlie v2 939 Report post Posted November 19, 2019 This is too hard. 57kg - Fix 65kg - Yianni 74kg - Dake 86kg - Cox 97kg - Snyder 125kg - Gable
wrestlingnerd 2,597 Report post Posted November 19, 2019 Re: Dake vs. Burroughs, I don't think Dake has changed that much, maybe improved a bit and added more tools to his already diverse toolkit. But I do think JB has changed for the worse. That's what makes the matchup particularly intriguing (as if it wasn't intriguing in the past). A confluence of little things could make the difference between those two, who are closer than most JB fans want to admit. It's NOT like Dake vs. DT, a series that Dake has always won (not the case with Dake vs. JB). It's too hard to call for me right now so I won't even try, but just pointing to what happened in the past and saying it'll happen again just because is short-sighted. New weigh-in rules (JB cuts quite a bit and is getting older), age, poorer results for JB (Imart gave him a damn good run recently, not to speak of the other losses), expanding family, etc. If they meet up, it'll be epic.
