PinFallRecruit 67 Report post Posted November 17, 2019 (edited) Apologize for bad formatting. I haven't seen anyone else put out a list yet, so I went through the selection criteria (https://www.teamusa.org/usa-wrestling/team-usa/team-selection-criteria) for the Olympic Team Trials and filled out everyone that has qualified so far with the Pan Am Olympic Qualifier complete. If you see anything off, let me know and I can correct it. It's separated by Olympic Weight Qualifiers and other World Team Weight Qualifiers that will have to change weights by the dashes. If a weight hasn't been officially declared, then wrestlers were put into where they have most recently wrestled or appear to fit best. I've started to make an attempt at seeding/brackets below each list of weight qualifiers. So 57KG seed guess will be under the 57KG qualifiers. Seeding criteria is within each teams selection criteria above. I am not including Inj Defaults as a win/lost, but will notate that it exists. Records against each other are since Apr 2019 (US Open). Men's Freestyle Keep in mind that a wrestler is able to change weights at anytime up until the Olympic Trials Weigh-Ins. This is a based on where wrestlers have said they will wrestle or have wrestled recently. If they have done neither, then they are projected based on best available information. Being qualified also doesn't mean that a wrestler will compete. 57KG 2017 World Team - Thomas Gilman 2018 World Team - Thomas Gilman 2018 World Team (Inj) (61KG) - Nashon Garrett 2018 World Team (61KG) - Joe Colon 2019 World Team - Daton Fix (No Medal) 2019 World Team [61KG] - Tyler Graff (No Medal) 2019 JR. Points are distributed based upon this release. Points are earned at the 2019 World Championships, Pan-Am Championships, and the Rome Ranking Series event (15-18 JAN). Current seeding points are listed next to each name. Wrestlers listed are those worth knowing for the qualifier. Not every nation/wrestler will be listed. ***At this point all other continental qualifiers have been postponed, so the only opponents known for sure are those that don't make it through the Pan-Am Qualifier.*** Men's Freestyle Team selection procedures: Olympic Trials winner. Confirmed reps in bold. FS 65 – ? Qualified countries (will NOT be at qualifier. Note - all federation (Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania) qualifiers were postponed, so this list will expand to include 2 from each of these qualifiers. Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Japan, Mongolia, Hungary, Cuba, Argentina Who's left? (These are wrestlers that are in FLO wrestling's Jan 2020 rankings, top 20) #8 Haji Aliev - Azerbaijan (European) - Didn't compete at Euro's. Replacement got bronze. Placed 12th at world's but lost to Russia (Rashidov) and Japan (Otogoro). Has won a few World and European titles. #10 Ilyas Bekbulatov - Uzbekistan (Asian) - Recent switch from Russia. Won gold at the Asian Championships and Dogu this year @ 70KG. Has won Europeans, Yarygin, and everything but worlds, where he has never been sent. #17 Meysam Nasiri - Iran (Asian) - Hasn't really had a ton of success at major tournaments with a 10th @ worlds in 17' and 15th at the last Olympics. Others have been sent instead to the Asian and World championships the last couple years. Likely would continue and we will see someone else (Maghsoudi - 19' Jr. World Champ, 3rd Asian Champ) #19 Niurgun Skriabin - Belarus (European) - 29th at Worlds (lost to MON), but 2nd at Europeans (beating Muszukajev (HUN) and Rahimzade (AZE)). Current Seeding - 1. Haji Mohamed Ali - Borneo (Asian), 2. Erik Arushanian - Ukraine (European) Yianni is the currently 5th in seed points, the highest American. It's possible be could slip into a seed depending on who qualifies and/or is sent to the world qualifier. Outlook – Not as many top level guys as I thought are left. Aliev is the biggest threat here, but should qualify at the European qualifier. Iran and Uzbekistan should be able to qualify at the Asian qualifier. So you have to think that whoever is sent may potentially have to go through 1 top 20 guy to make the finals. Greco Team selection procedures: Olympic Trials winners. Confirmed reps in bold. 77 - ? Qualified countries (will NOT be at qualifier. Note - all federation (Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania) qualifiers were postponed, so this list will expand to include 2 from each of these qualifiers. Hungary, Sweden, Iran, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Mexico Who's left? (There are no rankings available so this will just be a known name list. Feel free to let me know if anyone needs to be added.) Wuileixis de Jesus Rivas Espinoza – Venezuela Current Seeding - 1. Pavel Liakh - Belarus (Asian), 2. Wuileixis de Jesus Rivas Espinoza - Venezuela No american is close in seeding points currently. Outlook – Unknown until World Qualifier entries are known. 130 - ? Qualified countries (will NOT be at qualifier. Note - all federation (Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania) qualifiers were postponed, so this list will expand to include 2 from each of these qualifiers. Turkey, Cuba, Estonia, Georgia, Iran, Germany, Chile, Brazil Who's left? (There are no rankings available so this will just be a known name list. Feel free to let me know if anyone needs to be added.) Moises Salvador Perez Hellburg - Venezuela Current Seeding - 1. Abdellatif Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed - Egypt (African), 2. Moises Salvador Perez Hellberg - Venezuela Coon is the currently 4th in seed points, the highest American. It's possible be could slip into a 2nd seed depending on who qualifies and/or is sent to the world qualifier. Outlook – Not looking good without a great draw. Unknown until World Qualifier entries are known. Women - All weights are qualified. ----- Weights that will need to be qualified at the World Qualifier: Men's FS - 65 Womens - None! Men's GR - 77, 130 For comparison - the US qualified 14 or the 18 weights for 2016 missing out on 2 Greco and 2 Women's. The US, Turkey, Russia, Mongolia, Iran, Georgia, and Azerbaijan all sent a full Men's FS team. Egypt, Iran, and Russia sent full Greco teams. Canada and Japan sent full women's teams. nhs67 1,035 Report post Posted November 17, 2019 Thank you very much for putting this together. Question: Don't past Olympic or World Champions qualify as well, or was that just World Team Trials last year?
nhs67 1,035 Report post Posted November 17, 2019 Follow-up question: Does this mean they are qualified at those weights listed or can they choose a different weight? I know there are stipulations for the byes, however does Downey being the rep at 86 earn him a berth at his own choosing(74, 86, or 97)? I imagine if Burroughs or Snyder wished to change weight they would get a bye to the challenge tournament semi-finals, just as Cox and Dake had earned by medaling. I ask because there are a few where I doubt they can hold the weight and be effective. Omania at 67 in Greco comes to mind. He is a growing boy. Can he now go 72 if he chooses or must it be 67? Probably just World Team Trials. 3 minutes ago, nhs67 said: Follow-up question: Does this mean they are qualified at those weights listed or can they choose a different weight? They can choose any weight they want. However, if they change weights they can lose some of thier seeding criteria. Say Snyder decides to go 125KG, he would then only get a bye to the semis and no longer would have a bye to the best of three finals. FlyinLion 19 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 Since they are seeding the top 2 at the Pan Am Qualifier here are those that earned seeding points at Worlds without qualifying the weight. Also, to the points unless you did them yourself? I can add all that to it as well.

I haven't seen anyone else put out a list yet, so I went through the selection criteria (https://www.teamusa.org/usa-wrestling/team-usa/team-selection-criteria) for the Olympic Team Trials and filled out everyone that has qualified so far with the Farrell complete. If you see anything off, let me know and I can correct it. If you want to include all people qualified to date you need to include World Team Members from the non Olympic weights at 57 kg T Graff, J Colon & N Garret (won WTT) at 74 kg - J Green at 86 or 97 kg J Cox
maligned 455 Report post Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) I know it's not a big deal in the scheme of things and that it's screwed up on half the brackets he ever enters; but the uncommon last name, "Steveson", is in fact Gable's name, rather than "SteveNson". Thanks for this list! You beat the common wrestling media outlets to the punch. Edited November 18, 2019 by maligned

They are listed below the Olympic weights until they officially declare a weight. I haven’t seen any of them do that. If they have I’ll move them in the appropriate weight. Have Graff and Colon said they are going 57? I would suspect they do but haven’t seen confirmation. Green is going up to 74 this time instead of down to 65? PinFallRecruit 67 Report post Posted December 20, 2019 Editing as the Olympic Trials are going on. I'm going to be at the Trials tomorrow and Sunday, so I may not be able to update as quickly. If someone that has previously qualified for the Olympic Trials and earns a qualifying place, there is no adding of the next non-qualified wrestlers. For example, Cohlton Schultz and Jacob Mitchell have already qualified for the Olympic Trials, so only places 3-5 will have new qualifiers (none of the guys left in the consolation have qualified).
