Olympic Team Trial Qualifier Entrants

I've heard, unsubstantiated of course, that 86kg is too small for Kollin Moore.  197, from what I understand, is a good pull for him, even though he looks "smallish" compared to some of the visually bigger guys.

Moore at 86kg could be super tough.  Moore at 92kg is no slouch either.

I get that, and understand it fully.

If he goes into 97 keggers here in a couple of weeks and does not place top five, then where does he sit?

If he can make 86kg, I want to see him give it a go.  Regardless of the weight(s) that Cox and Nickal go.

Moore not placing top 5 this go wouldn't surprise me, but wouldn't bug me either.  After this year I assume he will naturally slide to 97kg and will grow into the weight as a senior level athlete.

Moore placing top 5 at 97kg wouldn't surprise me one bit either, just to be clear!

I’m pretty excited that the Alo sisters will be there. I didn’t even know Teshya was still competing, and I thought Teniya was either injured or going the Judo route. Trying to keep my expectations in check, as Teshya’s been out of senior competition & being a mom, and her sister is untested, plus they’ll be up at 62kg. Still, so great to see them competing.

Referencing senior Nationals...  Relax Mr. "I have to ensure exactness and correctness".

My bad, it was in the Olympic Team Trials thread, so I figured that's what you meant.

No way is Moore making 86kg and competing at any sort of reasonable level.  Day before weigh-ins perhaps--not anymore.

A fair statement, I believe.

I don't believe he has the strength to handle 97kg at this point.

Darkhorses:

57kg - Vitali Arujau

65kg - Joey Mckenna

74kg - Carson Kharchla

86kg - Myles Martin

97kg - Kollin Moore

125kg - Kerkvliet

Likely to win this tourney?  No.

Capable of pulling a thrilling upset?  Absolutely.

Vito definitely my dark horse at 57.   (Ok, a little Long Island bias here.)
