russelscout 1,026 Report post Posted December 3 (edited) That hurts. Brandon is really a great guy and has been such a hard working, humble, and positive person all around. I'll definitely be thinking of him. Edited December 3 by russelscout 3 herma48852, Nicky_Pipes and Housebuye reacted to this

Creek chub 162 Report post Posted Wednesday at 01:02 AM Dang!!! I always liked watching him wrestle. He always seemed like a level headed, dominant wrestler who did everything the right way, both on and off the mat. Prayers for healing brother.
silvermedal 125 Report post Posted Wednesday at 02:43 AM (edited) Aside from feeling terrible for Sorenson, how many of you recognize that this is a sad commentary on our health care system? His insurance runs out in 9 months...and then he has to rely on the kindness of family, friends and strangers for the funds. I read these stories constantly. It's ridiculous that someone gets sick and either dies or goes broke trying to stay alive. He should be able to buy insurance from the exchanges, which can't deny him for having a preexisting condition. It will still be more expensive than if he had insurance through an employer and he needs fundraising, but he won't have to incur the full cost of all the treatments. Currently, it says that $42,769 has been raised (of the $30,00 goal). It's great to see the wrestling community support Brandon, who is a class act. Best wishes and prayers for a complete recovery. 1 silvermedal reacted to this

I first saw him in Fargo about 10 years ago and have enjoyed watching him ever since. He had a nice rivalry with Jake Short as Cadet/Junior. I thought the same thing about the exchanges. He must be approaching 26.

Don’t want this thread to get political and I’m definitely not political at all, but it seems Obamacare has both good and bad to do with this situation. Good: the insurance that’s running out is his parents’ right? You didn’t used to be able to stay on your parents insurance for as long as you are now. Bad: it’s more expensive for employers to offer health insurance now which could be part of the reason he apparently doesn’t get any through HWC. Although I feel like I would’ve expected HWC to offer something to it’s athletes, especially considering the physical demands of the job. Edit: forgot to add that this is terrible news and hope he can win the fight. Edited Wednesday at 04:12 AM by 1032004
