PSU vs Northwestern Thread

Recommended Posts

Think I just heard the start will be at 133. #3 RBY is wrestling, not sure about Sebass.

8-1 after 1 period vs Utterback. Single, Cut, Go behind, 4 near fall. 14-5 after 2 periods. Had a cradle but got nothing from it. Couple of 3rd period doubles on the way to a 24-8 TF win.

9th ranked Nick Lee vs  5th year senior and Joey McKenna's brother Alec

14-4 after 1 period. 5 TD's and 4 nearfall to 4 escapes. Smart wrestling near end of Period 2 to try to get the FALL, but McKenna stalls out and its a 20-5 TF win.

I get the impression Cael and staff want RBY to be more aggressive and going for TD's and nearfall. From what Cael said I think they believe he can produce more bonus and it looked like it worked today.

184 today is Chreighton Edsell, no Aaron Brooks. Not sure why.

149 Jarod Verkleeren vs Eric Yang (Why no Yaya?)

Verkleeren with a pair of TD's on the way to a 4-1 lead.

Yang takes bottom, Verkleeren now up to 1:55 RT and he cuts him. Period ends 4-2. Yang dropped in on a nice low single but Verk went rubber knee and it ended at PD.

Period 3 quick escape and its 5-2. Verkleeren with the late TD and 2:05 RT and it ends 8-2.

157 Bo Pipher vs #1 Ryan Deakin

Scoreless after 1 period. Nice effort from Pipher!

Deakin with the ESC, then a TD, now riding. 3-0. He looks huge compared to Bo Pipher. Big 157 vs small 157. Deakin rides out the period. Not being Jason Nolf, Pipher unable to induce 3 ride stall calls on Deakin. Inside joke there if you recall last year's dual.

Deakin rides Period 3, and he gets 2 nearfall in the final 3 seconds to win it 5-0. Great effort from Bo Pipher. .
