Parris vs Gable S., who ya' got?

I think, at least in the first match, Parris is going to shoot himself out of the match - Gable is so good at countering that I think he gets at least a couple TDs from Parris shots.

Yeah, I can envision this happening. In my alternate scenario he takes fewer and cleaner shots and pulls out a 1 point win.

I don't know if Parris has that in him - dude loves to shoot and I love him for it, but Gable makes you PAY for bad shots.  I agree with you that it's the best strategy, let's see if he does that. Can't wait...

He is improving. Look at his shots last year vs Cassar. He paid for virtually every one that wasn't 100 percent clean. Now, he hasn't wrestled anyone that talented this year, but I do believe he is shooting better and finishing a lot quicker.  Part of this is that he is now bigger and stronger than last year, so that helps.

You could be right, but it's still hard to say given the level Cassar was at compared to everyone else he's faced this year.  Definitely improved, but until he does the same against the highest tier of competition I'm skeptical that output will work.   I personally don't think he can shoot as much on Gable as he normally does and win.

Guaranteed Stevenson will not win comfortably, and will not score a single takedown.  In fact, he will not score a single point.  That is a GUARANTEE.

Are you willing to wager on a secured online betting site? I will gladly bet a substantial amount of money on this.

We all know you are all talk though, keyboard warrior!

I'm with this.  But as a gopher fan, I'm nervous...

Oh, I am with you 100 percent on this. I think Parris needs to adopt the model used by Cassar vs Steveson. Play defense early, get to third period and have maybe one or two really crisp shots and convert one of them. The UM staff should be working on this right now because I think you basically hit this one out of the park. Your analysis is spot on imo.

I'll bet the farm.  Get it set up.  Stevenson will not score on Gable.

I am going with the teenager.  Many posters argue that Parris ( and Cassioppi for that matter) have gained experience and caught up to Steveson.  Don't forget that Steveson is younger than those two and he continues to improve and gain strength.

Gable. One decent win over a tough freshman doesn't equate to what Steveson has done in his career. Don't let recency bias or a perceived notion that Cassiopi was a title threat trick you into thinking Parris has this won. He is drastically improved but I still don't see him beating a 100% gable. I will take Steveson by 3.

I take Gable. He is too savvy, but by the end of their career I could see the gap narrowing. This year I think Gable is 3-0 against Parris.

Well - given that Gable ducked Parris when Michigan wrestled Minnesota, I am pretty sure they will only wrestle twice this year.  Having said that - the biggest problem Parris will have is that his domination on the mat will be lessened by Gable's ability to keep this match from being decided from there - Gable is a take down specialist - similar to how Kyle Snyder was - and if Parris is not able to take Gable down and defend against Gable's quickness it will be a long 7 minutes for Parris.

I would not have thought Parris could pull off the fireman's carry on Cass but if he can get Gable down with that, he will have a big edge.

Should be fun and should be in the Big 10 finals and NCAA finals for all to see!
