Class 84 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Tom Brands/Cael/Mark Manning. if their star has a temp of 102 tomorrow how are they handling it? I would not have high expectations that they would risk their teams NCAAs by disclosing. Do you?

It would not surprise me if every athlete has to have a check. up / physical/ temperature taken before the tournament so it probably will be a non-factor. Did you learn to post from Cinnabon? Needs to be like concussion protocol, independent check by neutral doctor/specialist. or maybe send TBarr to check all the Iowa guys, perhaps fly the MedicineMan in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edited March 12, 2020 by ionel

Class 84 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Logistically is that going to happen though, and when? In the interim however if Bryan Glynn has a high temp and needs to be tested is that getting out (as it should) to quarantine down the rest of the Iowa team? Not trying to be an Iowa hater, replace that with any team. we would all be naive to assume there isn’t one Rudy Gobert out there on a wrestling team training in the same room as a national entrant. The question is, would the coach jeopardize the entrant for the good of the public? What if it is Spencer Lee or Mark Hall with program success riding on them? This entire day would not be complete without a Medicine Man thread and in fact dare I say a return of DF.

You have most likely NEVER coached at the collegiate level but there is a real and enduring bond that transcends success. Yes, they want the most out of their athletes but that would not include running them on the freeway to sharpen their foot speed as you suggest! Class 84 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 it isn’t their athlete really at risk though, these guys have top level immune systems and might have a day of diarrhea, headaches and a fever. Are they shutting Spencer Lee or Mark Hall down for the benefit of the greater public.. when come on....we all know this thing will pass anyway. 3 minutes ago, coolbeans2 said: Absurd and "CLASS..LESS" These coaches would not put their athletes at risk IMO! ironmonkey 137 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Look at the Nebraska basketball coach leaving mid game to go to the hospital tonight (**may have nothing at all to do with Corona virus**). The point is that nobody is going to self quarantine and stay home because they aren't feeling well. Not even coaches.

TobusRex 2,010 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 I trust Tom Brands about as far as I can throw him. Which is a pretty long way, actually, since he's a 150 pounder. I think the vast majority of coaches (including Brands) have enough integrity not to put other athletes at risk, but I wouldn't be shocked if there wasn't a stinker or two in the mix. ironmonkey 137 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Yeah, he was released. Nevertheless, he felt awful and attended an event filled with people including his own staff and players. Normally we would understand and maybe even commend this but these aren't normal circumstances. No matter how often it is repeated to stay home if you aren't feeling well, I doubt people are just going to remove themselves from the national tournament. They may not even consciously decide to ignore symptoms as much as refuse to lose focus on their goals. I don't think coaches and athletes can self police themselves on this. Either way, it explains the two different answers.

Hate to tell you tRex but Tom & Terry are a package deal, Terry's gonna grab hold and your gonna have to throw both & they probably don't weigh 150 anymore, how far can you throw 330lbs? Unless they are very stupid, any coach that knowingly (or remains deliberately ignorant about) allowing a coronavirus-affected wrestler or staff member to go to NCAAs knows that they would have their career ended in short order.
