Piper 3 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Balfour was supposed to wrestle for Canada at the Olympic qualifiers but has been informed his Olympic trials win is no longer valid. Looks like cawa messed up the rules and now he's paying for it. https://torontosun.com/sports/other-sports/scarborough-wrestler-jevon-balfour-has-his-olympic-dream-pulled-out-from-under-him

MatJunkie 6 Report post Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) Unreal. You would think Wrestle Canada would want to put the best product on the mat for Pan-Ams and the Olympics. Edited March 16, 2020 by MatJunkie
Plasmodium 1,598 Report post Posted March 17, 2020 Is it as simple as Wrestle Canada making health decisions for him?

Cptafw164 99 Report post Posted March 19, 2020 That’s why their team is poopy. Besides, nobody wrestles in Canada. Half of their team is comprised of “Eddie the Eagle” type guys who are trying to simply make a world team. Seems like the only guys who do well are ex-pats,
maligned 455 Report post Posted March 20, 2020 Amar Dhesi is through and through Canadian. He of course benefitted from the U.S. university system and level of competition, but he came up fully through the Canadian system and clubs. Just qualified Canada for the olympics in dominating fashion over a couple decent guys.
Jim L 232 Report post Posted March 20, 2020 I know Igali is Nigerian ancestry and maybe was born there, but didn't he do all his wrestling development in Canada? I know he went to Simon Fraiser

I know he went to Simon Fraiser Igali came to Canada when he was in his late teens or maybe early 20's. I think he had done a lot of traditional wrestling in Nigeria prior, but I could be wrong. 1 Cptafw164 reacted to this
Plasmodium 1,598 Report post Posted March 21, 2020 According to his Wiki, he was already an accomished freestyler when he came to Canada at 20 years old.
JasonBryant 1,674 Report post Posted March 21, 2020 According to his Wiki, he was already an accomished freestyler when he came to Canada at 20 years old. Accomplished is relative. Challenging for a Commonwealth Games gold isn’t quite like challenging for World and Olympic medals. His performance ramped up significantly after he defected. Plasmodium 1,598 Report post Posted March 21, 2020 Yes, he accomplished much more in Canada than Nigeria. Relative to me, he was very accomplished while in Nigeria.
