jross 538 Report post Posted March 19, 2020 How would you prefer to receive these virtual predictions? One topic per weight, one comment per round, etc. Do you want all results or only want All Americans. Or stop the noise? 1 Show_Me reacted to this
Show_Me 341 Report post Posted March 19, 2020 (edited) One topic per weight. One round at a time, pause for some amount of time for comments/discussion, then proceed with next round/bout numbers per the bracket. You could try to finish one weight class per day or one weight class every 2-3 days. This could keep discussion going for some time. Just my thoughts. Cary by the Lake 52 Report post Posted March 19, 2020 **** Wrestlestats serves a very good purpose as a Database for wrestling results/history of all kinds. It can also be sort of fun to play What If. However, I have thought and still think the algorithm they use (even with all the tweaks they have made), is just ok as far as giving meaningful insights of various matches. Many times when I compare wrestlers or teams, as listed on Wrestlestats, I am left shaking my head, (thinking that result just does not make sense). I have asked more than once, what criteria is used and what weighting is used to yield the results? No answers, (crickets), even though I have asked more than once. Until Andre provides more insights into what the algorithm looks at, I will use it as a database for historical data. I still will trust my own instincts and knowledge where I can factor in the styles, strengths/weaknesses of the wrestlers. Just one man's opinion. The wrestlestat algo. has predicted upsets that will make the 125 lb bracket interesting tomorrow :). Let nhs67 and me know which ones have you shaking your head. Using transitive wins is a fun prediction method. WrestleStat has more merit for wrestlers in the same weight class with common opponents of the same season. It breaks down when comparing wrestlers across weight classes. I assume it does not consider weight and strength in these fantasy matchups. It can be humorous when comparing wrestlers that do not have common opponents and/or where the wrestlers are in different weight classes. When I compared Spencer Lee to Gable Steveson, WrestleStat should have said 'Gable Steveson over Spencer Lee MURDER' and instead it said 'Spencer Lee over Gable Steveson 8 - 5.' Maybe its an Iowa Fan. Edited March 19, 2020 by jross

jross 538 Report post Posted March 20, 2020 (edited) Spencer Lee and Jack Mueller are going at it again. Spencer has had Jack's number since they were teenagers. But Jack keeps performing better against Spencer every match. Every practice this season, Jack has focused on stopping one man, his vision quest, Spencer Lee. Jack recently shared that he felt untouchable and that he was on top of the world. All that focus on stopping Spencer's go-to single leg attack contributed to Jack overlooking Jakob Camacho at the ACC Championships, where Camacho handed Jack one of the worst losses of his career. Jack Mueller has been wrestling since he was three years old. He accomplished his dream to wrestle D1. Wrestling is not a job, it is not a burden, he loves it! After that ACC loss, Jack was locked in and having good practices. As we've seen, he came in into the NCAAs HOT and ready to throw the hammer down. Will Jack come out on top?
