Top 3 Division 1 Starters Per Weight Class in November

Recommended Posts

I'm bored, so you're getting my top 5

125: Lee, Glory, Foley, Schroder, Latona (assuming vito moves up, otherwise he'd obviously be here)

133: Suriano, Fix, Micic, Seabass, RBY (hoping that rumors of suriano being done at rutgers are false)

141: Lee, Eierman, Woods, Parker, Red

149: Yianni, Sasso, O'Connor, Mauller, Lewallen

157: Deakin, Hidlay, Carr, Teemer, Monday (outside of teemer i could definitely see any of the other guys moving up)

165: Marinelli, Kharchla, Griffith, Wick, Wittlake

174: Kemerer, Mekhi, Labriola, Massa, Romero

184: Amine, Brooks, Dean, Bolen, Hidlay

197: Adams, Darmstadt, Brucki, Warner, Sloan (major crapshoot here, definitely could Amos being a factor if Wisconsin decides against a redshirt)

285: Gable, Parris, Kerkvliet, Cassioppi, Schultz

Never really thought Schultz would move to 285.  He never seems that big at 197.  I assumed that NU would redshirt the incoming 197 (Alred).  Also would have put Venz in play at 184 (though there are a lot  more).

Assume that is the big Schultz at ASU with many Greco credentials

Right,  missed that.  Then he certainly missed Schultz at 197, since he was the #3 seed at the NCAAs.

Didn't miss him. Like I said, 197 is a total crap shoot. Could easily see Eric Schultz being a title contender next year, or not placing at all. Beard and Geer also fit that category for me. If i'm throwing a prediction out there just for fun, i'd have the placers looking something like this

1st: Darmstadt
2nd: Adams
3rd: Sloan
4th: Brucki
5th: Warner
6th: Beard
7th: Schultz
8th: Geer

Could definitely see Norfleet placing if he doesn't go back to 184, too. And as I mentioned Amos will definitely be a factor if he doesn't redshirt. Jay Aiello and Lucas Davison are also really good. Sure I'm forgetting some others. Like I said, total crapshoot of a weight imo.

Carter Starocci is going to open a lot of eyes at 174 next season. He will be a legitimate threat to Kem and Mekhi in St. Louis.

I havent heard that but thanks

Yianni said in his Flo interview that he'd go either 141 (not a tough cut) or 149 (doesn't feel he'd be undersized), depending on how the team shapes up and how Koll thinks he'd fit best.  Depends on how Saunders/Richard look at 149 or if Saunders can be effective at 141.

WRT first list:  Vito has beaten Suriano and RBY in freestyle most recently (2019 and 2018, respectively), but you don't see him in the top five?

I'd probably have him right at #6 for now since it's a new weight class and he beat Suriano down at 57kg and we still have to see how he fares as a 133lbr, but could easily see him ending up in the top 3.

you bet your a** he will. There's a reason why he won the Southern Scuffle unattached and its the same reason why he pulverized the 182 lb field at the PIAA Class 3A tournament for his second state title recently. You're looking at the next Ed Ruth.

Mekhis Lewis will be heavily favored against Starocci.

Southern Scuffle, lol. Piaas, haha.

How did he do at district duals?

this selection seems best so far - I especially like where you placed Rivera. I see this kid coming back on fire next season.

If Rivera and Suriano are in the finals next year at 133 that definitely strengthens Spencer Lee’s spot in the all time rankings.

I love me some Cassar, this would be amazing.  Any chance he or Kerkvliet could wrestle at 197 next year?
285 Kerkvliet

197 Cassar

184 Beard

174 Brooks

165 Starocci

Probably a pipe dream lol
