Synder is listed at either 5 -10.5 or 5-11, highly doubt he's at or under 5-9.

No way is Snyder 5'11".  In general, listed heights for wrestlers are often exaggerated. Not sure why.

unfortunately many PA greats fizzle out too soon, a lot are burned out before they reach college. the list is long.

Kolat just got flat out robbed. I think Spencer can be one of the guys on this list one day.

Snyder isn't taller than 5'10" and I'd say 5'9" seems more realistic.

Also, I watched the Vice segment on Dagestan. It was really interesting. Out in the mountains, they said that the only after school activity available is wrestling.

Yes... and in the same scene they were practicing wrestling on a soccer field

You know it's interesting, I bet you we could come up with a list of 10 regions, list all the wrestlers from there, and a good 80% of all gold medals in freestyle wrestling would be from those regions

Here is my start of the list

  1. Dagestan
  2. Ossetia
  3. Chechnya
  4. George (the country)
  5. Mazandaran, Iran
  6. Tehran, Iran
  7. Iowa
  8. Pennsylvania
  9. Oklahoma
  10. Kermanshah, Iran, or Azerbaijan (the country)

PA does not belong on that list... nowhere near it...

Admittedly, I do not the metrics of each of the states when it comes to Olympic gold, and I defer to the knowledge of those who know more about it

California, Iowa, Oklahoma, and New Jersey rank ahead of PA. And, none of our regions are comparable with Dagestan.

Agreed.  The truth is that no region comes close to Dagestan.  My point was not that the regions on my list are equal to Dagestan, but that a dozen regions have almost all of the olympic freestyle gold medals.

Hmm, I would have though PA would have a lot. Live and learn.

I bet Japan would be high on that list

No argument, I thought of Japan after the post.  I would remove number 10 and replace with Japan, or better yet, expand the list to 12, and add Japan plus perhaps (Bulgaria)

There are some odd ball countries that show up or least used to show up every once in a while (e.g. West Germany)
