Last time Oregon State won the PAC 12 championships

Recommended Posts

Was in 2016.  It was their 5th straight PAC 12 championship in wrestling in 2016.  There were six teams involved (Arizona State, Boise State, CS Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Oregon State & Stanford)

Since 2016 Oregon State has done the following at the annual PAC 12 wrestling tournament:

2017 - Oregon State placed 4th as a team behind Arizona State, Stanford and Cal State Bakersfield (same six teams competed as in 2016)

2018 - Oregon State placed 2nd behind Arizona State (five teams competed after Boise State dropped wrestling)

2019 - Oregon State placed 3rd behind Stanford and Arizona State (same five teams competed)

2020 - Oregon State placed 4th behind Arizona State, Stanford and Cal State Bakersfield (six teams competed with the addition of Little Rock)

2019 there were 4 points separating 1st to 3rd. They had a shot at it. If true second place matches counted in the team race they would have taken 2nd. But they don’t. This year their best wrestling was during the season. Pac 12 was a low point.

Its also interesting to look at the ASU timeline.  When Zeke and staff came on, it hasn't been the same at Oregon St.  Couple that with other events: Troy leaving to head up Fresno State, then the debacle with Coach Roberts and the Admin, it's been tough for the Beavs to rebound.  Hence the change in late March to go with Coach Pendelton.  BTW, Pendelton is the name of a city in Oregon :-)
