MadMardigain 1,364 Report post Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) Well it seems like he’s got two possible paths based on his MMA aspirations. He could can skip the rest of his college wrestling career (could still finish school) just take one big shot at the 2021 Olympics and then goes MMA. Or find another school finish up college wrestling and degree, stay with their connected RTC through the 2024 Olympics cycle, and then go MMA. Don't approve of this twist on the nickname. If anyone's nicknamed "muscles" it should be Jacobe Smith, a title he'll be handing down to Northwestern recruit Ferrante. 1 madcat11 reacted to this

He would start the season as the #1 ranked wrestler at 133 being the returning champion...so on paper, yes he would be the favorite. In reality, every weight has many contenders. VakAttack 3,132 Report post Posted May 12, 2020 I'm not 100% sure Suriano would be th #1 ranked guy if he came back, it could be SeaBass. That said, while there may be a technical "favorite", there is nobody that has separated themselves as yet to being even 40% likely to win the weight. It's that stacked. IIRC, UFC/MMA isn't Nick's end-goal; I think he wants a career in Hollywood, so whatever option increases his status and exposure will probably be an attractive option. Olympics/Worlds and MMA are the most obvious paths but who knows what other detours might arise. Maybe he'll go viral on social media and become the next Logan Paul (blecch) or something. Anyway the dropoff won't be too huge for Rutgers. Sammy Alvarez is tough! Edited May 12, 2020 by pamela

pamela 1,334 Report post Posted May 12, 2020 Micic beat Seabass a couple of seasons ago comfortably but not by MD - it was when Rivera was still wrestling at 125 and bumped up a weight for the match.

moveurfeet32 99 Report post Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) What a difference in comparing Riveras dad and Surianos dad....Riveras dad is a former New Jersey State Champ, NCAA D3 National Champ and has been in the corner and coaches former UFC Champ Frankie Edgar since day 1 and runs one of the top and most respected clubs in NJ. Just a Great and nice guy and Wrestling supporter even with guys that don't belong to his club. Surianos dad has done nothing ever on the mat or ever for the sport and just is nasty and causes problems wherever he goes...Hes probably going to regret being such a tool one day..jmo Edited May 12, 2020 by moveurfeet32
