Ohio guys were spread across divisions.  I believe in 03 you would have had Lance Palmer, Ryan Lang, Dustin Schlatter, CP Schlatrer, J Jaggers, Steve Luke, Mike Miller, JD Bergman, and Dustin FOx all winning titles in their respective divisions.  Pucillo was a 10th grader at Walsh but he did not win a title until his senior year.  That 4 NCAA champs (5 if you count Pucillo) and 3 other NCAA finalist in one year.  Solid.

All those guys were state champs or finalists in 2003?

Yes with the exception of Pucillo as mentioned (he was a state runner up at 145 as a 10th grader) everyone else won titles that year.  Lance Palmer won his first of 4 titles as a freshman 103!

That’s a pretty impressive group

Do you remember if he ever ended  Up wrestling anywhere ?

Technically he wrestled a tournament for Iowa fall of '06. Kaufman Brand. Looks like he wrestled a couple of bouts. I believe he transferred to a JC fairly soon.

Or as Buxton once said, he went on to wrestle for team Bob Marley.

2006 group of N.J. state champs is definitely the best group in state history out of the 14 champs they had 4 ncaa champs (Burroughs,Molinaro, Caldwell and Zach Rey)

1 D3 champ (will Livingston)

2 multiple time AAs (Mike Grey, Frank Perelli)

2 four time ncaa qualifiers (Scott Winston, Alex Caruso)

1 2 time qualifier (Fred Santaite)

and out of the runner ups had D1 AA Scott Giffin

4 time ncaa qualifier Daryl cocozzo

3 three time qualifiers (Jimmy Conroy, Trevor melde, Dj Russo)

2 two time qualifiers ( vinny dellafave, John Trumbetti) and

a 2 time D3 AA Jesse Harrington

can anyone remember a group of finalists with this much ncaa success? I’m sure PA and Ohio have had some greats years

I never realized Trevor Melde was a 3x NQ.  Thought he was gonna be a stud, but don’t remember hearing much about him after HS.    3x NQ (and 100 wins apparently) is pretty good though.

Edit:  John Trumbretti being a 2x NQ is impressive too.  Didn’t he suffer a serious neck injury in HS?

I was thinking about commenting on portajohn's comment as being pretty apropos.

He was part of the group of guys that all helped lift Rutgers up and turn them into a real good dual team but then they would all fall apart at ncaas and get no AAs.

Gonna have to say the 1995 California team is the best.  Also, CA has the most world and Olympic gold medals than any other state.

California has the most world and Olympic gold ever? How many?
