Va Tech line-up next year?

Recommended Posts

Hokie fans, how do you see it? Especially curious about 141 and 149 with 2 AAs this year and Carter coming off RS and slated for 141 by all accounts. Does anyone else have a RS to use or will guys bump up?

Also, will Dance be in off the bat at 125?

I have to think that returning AA Zach Niebert will be in the lineup. Perhaps he bumps up to 149. Spjut might still be their 133, possibly RS Norstrem. Dance will be solid at 125, but he will take his lumps along the way. Not a super strong Dual Team, but should be a better tourney team

Wow, that is alot of guys making the round of 12. Not sure Dance immediately transitions to high AA status as a Freshman.

Also, not sure if Neibert jumps to 57 and Mastriani goes 49--he went 52 in High School and went 57 this season as a redshirt. And while I think he will be a good wrestler--dont think he AA's next year--look at his record as a redshirt, it was solid but dont think he beat a starter from any top 25 schools.

Dance is talented and will have quite a few close matches I don't see a high AA automatically as a fresh. That super duck gets a little harder to hit in college

I did not see a lot of super ducks at nationals. College guys usually know how to defend them. Starting to see a lot of guys go to their knees, especially at the lower weights.

I hope they have enough depth to be able to redshirt a good core group, so that they can make a run like the current seniors made. The benefits of an early redshirt year are too great to pass up. On the other hand, I have heard that Dance, Epperly, and Norstrem are older, so that may help them if they jump in right away. I love Gustafson's college style, but I still think he could use a year to adjust.

What will help Dance compete right away is his phenomenal defense.

His super-duck will be but a compliment to his skill set.

I don't see high AA from him and getting on the podium will be a tremendous feat for him as a true freshman. He can do it though.

How did Dawson Peck look this year?

I didn't actually get to see him wrestle, but the results I read were not too good. He needs to get big, quick.

He had mixed results. He beat Joe Stolfi who was a round of 12 guy. Lost to PSU's Jimmy Lawson 5-3 at Shorty Hitchcock. He will redshirt next year to continue getting bigger.

^^Sounds like VT kept Peck's credits low so NCAA clock did not start running. Like Vollaro was enrolled part-time at Lehigh the 2012, so his NCAA clock did not start running until this season, which Vollaro took as RS.
