Boone was very good in high school. He hasn’t wrestled in college at all. Anyone know why?

Wasn't this his first year in college?  He was at Penn State and they only were allowed to dual other Big 10 teams.   So unless they had "extra matches" available for him,  he probably didn't get a chance to show what he had on the mat.  Sounds like he left the program at semester, so probably wasn't too happy sitting either.

The word on BWI (from someone who seemed to be close to the kid) was that he asked for a mask exemption for a medical reason and the university denied the request and he was unable to be with the team the entire year, hence the transfer.

Like mask for COVID or we talking the attach to the headgear type?  I'd assume the former.   Stupid on them for doing that,  in all honesty Big 10 did a lot of things that didn't make sense.  Like you can only compete in conference for duals and B10 tournament...but your span is from Nebraska to NJ/Maryland?  WTF!?   Meanwhile you had other programs in other conferences that as long as everyone was testing you were good to dual them.   For me it makes a helluva lot more sense on say Iowa and Iowa State wrestling each other than Iowa going out to Maryland and competing.  Same state with same guidelines,  and both were under testing protocols.   Iowa State was smart in scheduling all sorts of teams that tested.  Loras, UNK, and Wartburg all had chances to take on Iowa State which was fun from a small college fan.

Requiring students to wear a mask was stupid? What?

I don’t care to know Boone’s specific medical condition but I would be genuinely curious to know of any conditions that prevented you from temporarily wearing a cloth mask occasionally on campus yet still allow you to work out and compete at the level of a D1 wrestler.

If there is one, there has to be a few. Right?

No shoes, no shirt, no service is as American as apple pie.  No shoes, no shirt, no mask, no service is a violation of fundamental human rights.

If you don't believe in basic science and data....but yeah...let's use shoes and shirts as an example.  <eye roll>

How about this...let people who want to wear masks, wear masks.  Those that don't, don't.  If you all believe science then you understand the theory of survival of the fittest; thus, all those silly non-mask wearers should just be gone and you strong masks wearers should prevail...right?!?!

Incorrect.  Masks help prevent spread, not infection.

Funny. Fitness, in the biological science usage of the word, means most likely to successfully reproduce.

So, if you're talking about taking steps that will result in your genotype proliferating the gene pool, yes, reducing your chance of contracting any disease is in fact going to increase your biological fitness. Everyone taking that step reduces the chances of individuals contracting disease, by decreasing spread, increasing the biological fitness of the whole group.

So you are just rewording what I wrote...thanks...point still holds true.

Even if you are vaccinated??  Again, which science do you choose to believe??

What are you even talking about?  The dude quit when 5000 people a day were dying and vaccines were only available to Trump.

The "best" vaccine against COVID doesn't prevent 100% of people from contracting COVID, becoming symptomatic, and spreading it to others. We've been over this.

No, not really. You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what "fitness" is. Fitness is not just your biological ability to reproduce; it's the decisions and actions an individual takes as well.

Oh my lord...are you talking about the 5-7% of people that the vaccine may not work for??  Seriously, we should stay shut down and wear masks indefinitely for one of the most effective vaccines ever created??  Holy smokes...if you want to choose to live your life based on the 5-7% of possible symptomatic infection, then go ahead, but the rest of us can choose to live our life how WE want...not based off of your irrational fear.  Especially if you truly understand survival of the fittest.

Serious question - a scant 6 months ago when thousands were dying every day, did you consider mandatory masks in public to be a violation of your rights?

I imagine he is also very strongly anti-abortion.

Yet also feels that a person's medical decisions should be theirs and theirs alone.
