Wick to Cal Poly

Buzz is that he wasn't admitted to Penn State due to some issue with his credits not transferring.  Odd given that it would have been a B10 to B10 transfer.

Is this actual/real "buzz" or just cinnabuzz?

If credits don't transfer, it doesn't necessarily mean that he wasn't admitted, it means he's losing so many credits, it's not worth it. The same thing happened to Andrew Howe when he tried to transfer from Wisconsin to Michigan. He was going to lose like 30 credits, which is a whole year of school. Transferring with one year of school left is costly. Wick would have been better off hustling to graduate, then seeking out a new school as a grad transfer. But in the end, it sounds like he's pretty happy with his decision to Cal Poly. Good luck to him.

I'll be interesting to see if Wick improves or regresses at Cal Poly.  Obviously he will be the top dog there...and the room won't be as strong as at Wisconsin.  But he will be another year wiser and older.

2021 NCAA standings.  Not a huge difference, and Cal Poly's best wrestler, Bernie Truax (174  4th NCAA) is a good partner.

23 Wisconsin 18.5 - -
24 Oklahoma 17 - -
25 California Poly 16.5

Luka Wick was a top 50 guy class of 2021 but lost most of SR year w/ covid.

haven't seen him in quite a bit.

Thank you Husker_Du! Sounds like some great additions to the Cal Poly roster!

Here is a question that you might have some insight on, but there was a great tournament in October that was held in the Clovis/Fresno area in October called World Challenge. Is that still going to happen? Thanks in advance!

How many years was he at Wisconsin? It seems like it was long enough to graduate.

Moving from Madison to San Luis Obispo is an incredible upgrade in weather.

For sure.  Madison had to be tough for him also, considering he was from the L.A. area.

Joe Lee can breathe a sigh of relief.

I've been gone a while.  Did you ever get around to that charitable donation?

San Luis Obispo is beautiful.  Would be pretty cool to participate in an outdoor match like this (of course, I can imagine an acorn falling at the wrong moment)

SLO is spectacular.

My wife interviewed there before she took a job offer here in CO.

Great news for Cal Poly and west coast wrestling, with him and Truax they'll get way more coverage and people talking about them.  Caly Poly has been on a downswing since Perry left, this is the shot in the arm they needed.

He must be on the PDIII education plan, 6 years of college with no degree.

He Olympic redshirted the last two years, was he even enrolled at school during that time?
