One of our gotos for NCAAs is to Uber a bit away from the walking crowds and find a divey bar with shuffleboard, if you know of any please pass along.

Ye Old Saloon in Royal Oak is great dive bar with shuffleboard. Its about 15 minutes from downtown.

Everyone has a bit of a different definition for a "dive bar", but Madison Park Bowl has a pretty large bar area and it actually hosts shuffleboard tournaments(including the state tournament), so their boards are very well maintained.

Also, they are located exactly 2 miles north of Detroit just east of the major Freeway(I-75).

Not the same as shuffleboard, but for an authentic experience go to the Cadieux Cafe for featherbowling.  Part of the Dutch enclave in Detroit, lots of beers from Holland, oysters, etc.  Sometimes a band on hand.

Aloft Detroit at David Whitney is the closest, great location, not to pricey.

Shinola Hotels is very nice, also great location but a bit more pricey.

Detroit has a bunch of littler boutique hotels.

Detroit Marriott at Renaissance Center is probably the biggest hotel downtown, can take the People Mover and then it's a short walk to the arena.

Also 3 Hotel Casinos. I recommend either MGM or Greektown Casino. Don't recommend Motor City Casino nothing around the hotel and a shady walk anywhere.

Do I even dare suggest a meeting spot for forum folks between certain sessions?  Could be a helluva good time or a total disaster (or is there even a difference between the two?).

Excellent Idea.  Alcohol will give me the courage to settle some of the scores I have with these guys.
