With his brother, as the "Creed Brothers"

They also claim that one of the brothers (presumably Jacob) was "undefeated in NCAA competition as an amateur".  Someone should inform Cael.

Not that it matters, but his brother went undefeated his senior year so maybe that is the undefeated status, either way it is wrong and a hugh stretch.

I’m dumber for having watched that.

that said, the dudes that served as the wrestling dummies … getting slammed … etc., —- that crap has to take a toll on their bodies.

Dumber for having watched a four minute clip of guys getting tossed? You've watched a movie correct? Trying hard enough

Is there a reason they are called Creed other than just being a ripoff of the Rocky movies? What happened to better nicknames like “The Rock” or “Stone Cold”? Do they earn those as they move up in their careers?

I have read a single thought provoking analysis of the WWE: Paul Cantor's "Pro Wrestling and the End of History" (1999). It made the cover of Bill Kristol's The Weekly Standard -- complete with a pic Stone Cold SA pouring a beer on his unconscious opponent. That alone should make it mandatory reading. The confused neo-con reactions in the next issue are priceless. Here's a link:

Really interesting, thanks for the link.  The point about wrestling entering a post-patriotic phase foreshadowed Kurt Angle perfectly. Thousands of people chanting "you suck" at an olympic champ holding the American flag.  The comparison to Jerry Springer is 100% spot on as well (I made this same comparison in a previous thread)-and the culture has only gotten worse and more based on family drama (e.g. reality TV) and class jealousy (hatred against the educated/wealthy) . WWE will continue to lead  the way.  But still, have they lost their originality with crappy movie-ripoff nicknames? Or maybe they are just signaling to their fans that they will be the heels to the Steveson "Rocky" brothers?

In terms of content from the weekly standard, this has to have been one of the few to really be prescient.
