Chances at Worlds

Recommended Posts

Now that we know our team, what do you all think of their chances at the world championships? Do we know the starting teams for Russia, Iran, etc just yet?

Feeling pretty confident that we could medal at every weight, though I'm certainly not betting on that happening.

This team is freaking stacked.

57, 70, 74, 79, 86, 92, 97, 125 all have PROVEN medal contenders.  That is 8 of 10 weights.  And seeing Fix and Yianni this weekend, I feel great about them.

8 medals and 5 Golds would not be a big surprise.

I agree the team is pretty impressive. We legitimately have a medal shot at all 10 weights. I can’t remember another time that was the case. Of course, everything would have to go right to actually get medals in all ten weights, but 7-8 medals and 3-4 gold would not surprise me.

If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.

Looks like they are betting on youth with Kozyrev. He was the only Russian not to medal, and the man he lost to didn't medal either.  Russia just not deep at super heavy FS or GR.  Sharipov went life and death with Baran and lost to Dzianis.
