If that’s the case it may have something with Stanford being on a quarter system rather than semesters. Fall, Winter, Spring, plus the option of a Summer one too. He could have not taken the required course load for a prior quarter or something as he was preparing to transfer. But now with him staying its putting him a quarter requirement off of athletic eligibility. That would seem very plausible for many people expecting to transfer from a school like Stanford to another institution, but now an unexpected side effect he has to fix.
