U23 Worlds Belgrade, Serbia (Greco)

Recommended Posts

November 1-3,
I don't know anything about the normal level of Greco competition at U23s, nor do I know any of these athletes.
Anyone we should keep an eye on?  I know Lamont is always on teams but....
The only other wrestler on the list I can honestly say I remember seeing wrestle is Boykin.
@LJB Any Sleepers? Any expectations?

U.S. Greco-Roman roster
55kg: Taylor Lamont (Mapleton, Utah/Sunkist Kids WC)
60kg: Dylan Gregerson (Bluffdale, Utah/Brunson UVRTC)
63kg: David Stepanian (Macomb, Mich./New York AC)
67kg: Alston Nutter (Fennimore, Wisc./Sunkist Kids WC)
72kg: Nate Moore (Buckley, Wash./Northern Colorado WC)
77kg: Britton Holmes (Peyton, Colo./Army WCAP)
82kg: Tommy Brackett (Eads, Tenn./Gator Wrestling Club)
87kg: Spencer Woods (Shungnak, Alaska/Army WCAP)
97kg: Nicholas Boykin (Murrfreesboro, Tenn./Sunkist Kids)
130kg: Brandon Metz (West Fargo, N.D./Bison WC)

taylor lamont has been on every age level greco team since '58... has one junior bronze i believe...

stepanian was in the finals of senior trials against jones... he is not a punk... and he can definitely roll up 55kg kids in par terre...

nutter was on a couple of age level teams in the past...

not much to add past that...

there could be some killer hiding in the cracks that i am just not aware of...

I'm just here to say I love Serbia.

Serbia is nice, ............... Croatia is even nicer. They got the coastline which is incredible. Zagreb and Belgrade should both rebuild those old "government housing buildings" as they call them.

Again why is the Greco preview so weird compared to  Freestyle's?

All the Greco one does is praise a trait of the American entrants style.  Every single time for every wrestler. No predictions. No clue which American has a good chance or is a stronger member of the team. Doesn't mention a single foreign wrestler or if there is a big favorite in the field.

Whats the point. Might as well just copy and paste the greco roster and say they are all wonderful people who should win gold in win one sentence since you don't get anything else out of the preview.

Well Lamont did win a couple of matches and got himself into the semi’s, and will wrestle for a medal tomorrow, so hopefully he can win a Bronze. And if he can win, this could hopefully build some momentum for the rest of our Greco team.

You must be referring to a different preview than this one, where they talk about what school/club each athlete competes with, past accomplishments, notable wins, notes from their trials wins, etc.....

Women's draws are up at UWW. Flo Arena didn't have them the last time I looked.

Mostly decent draws.

On a side note, the UWW Athletes & Results function has undergone a dramatic upgrade.

I was impressed. The only downside is that it only goes back to 2019 at the moment.
