Intermat has been counting down their top 50 current collegiate wrestlers. They do factor in freestyle results.

So far they have revealed #50 through #9 with the promise to reveal one per day. However, it has been six days since the last post.

Hey @Husker_Du, what gives? Where are the top 8?

Why are several NCAA champs (Griffith, Ford Focus, CStar, Mekhi) below a bunch of guys that have never been champs?  

The Olympic gold medalist better be #1 on this list.  Yianni and Spencer should also be top-3 imo.

edit to say - i'm with you on proximity, but i feel Sebass should definitely be ahead.

I'm not necessarily against Seasbass over Wilson, but two 3rd place finishes plus, not just a head to head, but a mollywhomping is compelling.  Maybe I'm just biased for Rivera though, I've always loved watching him wrestle, but I tend to agree

I am a bigger fan of Seabass's than Wilson's please don't take me wrong.  He got destroyed, though.  There was very little doubt who was better the last time both took the mat in a collegiate match.

If we are talking careers, then okay.  If we are talking current, then there isn't much argument for Rivera over Wilson.

yeah, career rankings are definitely not as cut and dry as 'right now' rankings. 

put simply - look at the 'career' case for say Myles Amine vs. Ferrari and/or Carter Starocci vs. Kemerer (which are the same weights).

then try to juxtapose those of, say, Daton Fix (2-2) and, idk, someone else at another weight with a title.

Freestyle isn't included, obviously.

Also, I believe they are taking total career as a weighting factor as well.

tbh i don't know if Earl (he did the rankings) included SR level performance.

but yianni is not an olympian nor a world medalist. 

fix is. gable is. amine is. that's it among current college wrestlers.

Appears to be raw talent, current state, and career all ranked on an opinionated case-by-case.  I like it.

I think he was referring to Steveson (Olympian) and Fix (World) and he missed that Fix was 9th.

we realized not everyone would be happy with the order. was more of a roll out to the lead up of the season. for the most part, i think earl did a great job. 

a couple things to nit pick (i think glory is too high) but overall a fun exercise imo.

On a list like this, it's impossible to please everybody, and almost everybody looks at it thru their preconceived biases.  For example, I think some of the Iowa guys are too low.  But again, it's all about how difficult these lists are.

There are ten weight classes, so those in the top three in their weight classes would be in the top thirty or so.  Vito has had one NCAA season, with a fourth place finish.  He lost to Glory their last go-around, so he's right behind him.

sure but i don't know why you'd ignore freestyle and i think his freestyle results indicate that he's better than the #2 pfp guy at some weights
