Intro of Big Ten on TV.. Shane Sparks "Minnesota versus #2 Oklahoma STATES"  Sorry but that is not the name of the university.  He always uses the term "STATES"  EX.  The Ohio STATES, Iowa STATES etc...  WHY????

pretty sure it is not, he made it up just like States

While we are at it, it sounds weird when Brits say maths, even if it makes sense (short for mathematics).

But it drives me bonkers when they say Goldmans, Merrills, and Morgans, instead of the singular (and no this is never done in a context to suggest possesive).

As an investment analyst who spent six years working and living in London, I couldn't agree more.  Also they omit the word "the" when talking about a hospital.  "I went to hospital"  ... "okay, neanderthal!"
