Wow….what’s up with Dabir?

see the iranian wrestling thread. it’s a mistranslation. that phrase means “down with america” or “beat america.”

I don’t think so. From the same thread you reference:

“this interview has nothing to do with this dual or wrestling in general. it was the second anniversary of Soleimani's killing and apparently it was a show talking with people about how we can keep his memory alive. and Dabir (who apparently had a kind of friendship with Soleimani) is saying whoever does his job properly is making his country better and therefore that's how we can keep his memory alive instead of just shouting "Death to America" while doing nothing else for the country

some people intentionally cut only that part of the interview and used word by word translation to make it looks like something else and it seems that worked very well for them”

no i think he was slightly misunderstanding what i meant. he pointed out that dabir didn’t refer specifically to this dual meet, but also (conveniently in the first half of the post you didn’t copy) explains that the slogan does not mean to literally “kill” america and in the context of the conversation when dabir was saying we need to put into action he means that every day citizens need to do their jobs to make iran the best country possible and that’s how they “kill”america.

you can also easily find elsewhere that there’s some slippage in the translation.

Hopefully this is a matter of translation, but…

Yeah, I always depend on the Jerusalem Post for political news on Iran, being that the Israelis are a disinterested party. They've been so neutral on news on Iran. It's not like they've been pushing the US to make war on Iran for their benefit, like they did with Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen...

Oh.

It’s linked in many other places if you care to look. It’s not like he didn’t say it.

I guess it's a Bill Clinton issue: it depends on what you mean by "it". What exactly do you mean by "it". The Mainstream Media is great at misrepresenting "it". Remember Ahmadinejad and the "Israel must be wiped off the map", which he never said. Of course you don't, because you still believe he said it! That's the power of the media. What he actually said was "“Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad.”. Translated into English, this means "“The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.” Kind of like the regime of the USSR vanished from the pages of time. Did all the citizens of the USSR die? Of course not. Does this mean that all the Israelis must die? Of course not, but the media made most Americans believe that it did. This example, which was major world news, is how you should view ALL mainstream media news on Iran; you should be skeptical that Israeli (The Jerusalem Post) and US media outlets will massage the language and present things in a way to portray Iran as the nation of the "evil hairy Mullahs", intent on death and destruction of infidels.  It's time Americans started using their brains to think...

With Clinton it was "is" not "it"
