Kouros 2 Report post Posted June 9, 2013 Wrestling still has far more people who "compete" that Squash, since every club no matter how small, routinely holds competitions and mini-tournaments regularly throughout the year. There are still hundreds of thousands, or millions more wrestlers than squash players, worldwide. The issue here is, why would there be a need for a fourth racquet sport in the Olympics, there are already three: Badminton, Tennis and Table Tennis. Seriously, why do we need a fourth? Kouros 2 Report post Posted June 22, 2013 The issue here is, why would there be a need for a fourth racquet sport in the Olympics, there are already three: Badminton, Tennis and Table Tennis. Seriously, why do we need a fourth? But from a squash player's perspective, they see too many combat sports: boxing, taekwondo, judo, & 2 styles of wrestling. They can see it that way, if they are cynical (and also not very smart!) Taekwondo is a "striking" martial art. There are dozens of those but only one in the Olympics. Judo is a "throwing" martial art, there are dozens of those, but again, only one in the Olympics. The above four sports are not that closely related to one another that they belong under one heading. They are all done very differently. There is no purely "grappling" sport in the Olympics. Squash is a racquet sport, and far too similar to the ones already in the Olympics, there is no need for a fourth. Wrestling is literally *missing* right now, from the Olympics.
