Couple shot attempts by Terukina, but they scramble out of bounds. Surtin gets aggressive late, locks up a cradle, nearly pins Terukina, who fights off his back to end the match. 7-1 decision for Surtin 3-0 for Missouri as we head into 133Please keep up the play-by-play. Seems to have regressed a little overall. 1 The_MO_Godfather reacted to this
flyingcement 915 Report post Posted February 17 Brown was able to take down Attasauov with relative ease, but gave up several reversals. In a rematch, he should think about letting him back up and taking him down again.
The_MO_Godfather 59 Report post Posted February 17 (edited) Is Brown sucking too much weight? It’s hard to believe a 4x HS champ is 3-7 and gassed bad at the end of the match. Definitely seems to have regressed. Edited February 17 by The_MO_Godfather 1 Mizzoufan01 reacted to this

Some of those matches were up at 141. He seems like a total warrior mentality - anything for the sake of the team. From my perspective he is a lot better than his record says, but would benefit from the stability of a single weight class 1 Mizzoufan01 reacted to this

Small for 141 and to big of a cut to make 25 all year. I would’ve guessed he or Schmidt would’ve started all year at 133, but doesn’t seem to have worked out. 1 flyingcement reacted to this
flyingcement 915 Report post Posted February 17 141 - Ethan Turner, the redshirt freshman bumps up from 133 and takes on Ian Parker. Turner with two takedowns in the first, leading 4-1 into the second period. Quick escape from Parker to start the second. Turner is not shy on offense and takes another shot. Hard sprawl and heavy hips by Parker. Turner seems to be cherishing the moment - is not backing down, but is slightly outclassed by the veteran savvy of Parker. Another takedown by parker in the second and we are 7-1 heading into the third. Riding time approaching two minutes for Parker. Heavy pressure on top from Parker to start the third. Turner is in one of those situations where he may be hit for stalling even though he is basically helpess and can't build back up. Turner showing enough and discouraging Parker from trying to turn him. Parker lets him up as it's 7-2 with fifty seconds left. Parker with a another final takedown as he works for the major. Admirable effort by Turner to escape, but Parker is too strong. Major decision by Turner with riding time: 10-2. 7-3 Iowa State heading into

The_MO_Godfather 59 Report post Posted February 17 Edmond gassing too. Wrong time of year for that….
flyingcement 915 Report post Posted February 17 Long and lean Jarrett Degen takes on the stockier, explosive Josh Edmond. Great contrast of styles and physiques. Degen takes a shot, but Edmond gets an impressive two on a re-shot. Lets up Degen. Couple good scrambles, and then a footsweep by Degen who takes a 3-2 lead. Degen aggressive on top, but a little sloppy. Edmond secures a reversal but cannot keep Degen down. 4-4 going into the second period. Degen starts the second on bottom and again quickly escapes. Edmond not committing much to the ride. Josh Edmond with a blast double that hit Degen before he could blink. Another takedown and an escape. Edmond steps backward out of bounds in a moment of confusion and is hit with a stall call. Degen with several more trip attempts and keeps going for it. Edmond trying to keep a bit of distance to wrestle from space. Edmond starts the second neutrla and we are 6-6 in the third. Edmond nearly takes Degen down again, but we have some great scrambling. Fans are cheering and all of the sudden, it's Degen who ends up on top. He is suffocating Edmond on top with his length. Both wrestlers look gassed. Degen gets a little sloppy at the end, Edmond gets an escape. Riding time locked. 9-7 in favor of Degen. Great match. Iowa state up 10-3 going into 157. Also I have to go coach my daughter's basketball practice shortly and will not be able to do the play by play for much longer (maybe one more match)

I just wondered if he was sucking too much because he seemed to gas. Also agree he has looked a lot better in matches than his record and final scores show.
