Threadkilla 98 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 It seems early in this cycle that there is a changing of the guard on the national scene. I don't doubt we are going to see new faces on the team after Nationals. The Russian team is completely new with Sat, Kudukhov, Tsargush, Gadisov and Gatsalov getting bounced, and several of the matched weren't close. What do you guys attribute this to? Some of the new Russian reps have been around for a while, so im not sure its an age thing. How much weight can be put on the new rules as the reason for the new faces? quick__single 18 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 With the new rules conditioning is now a factor again. Many of the guys you mentioned that lost simply looked tired. That's what I saw.
wrestlingnerd 2,357 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 The Russian team won the Olympics on depth, not individual superstardom as it has many times in the past. The one guy who won the Olympics (Otarsultanov) didn't even weigh in for nationals. I'm not that surprised to see new guys win nationals, especially with new rules in place that will take a cycle or two to get adjusted to.
